Like a moody rock band-style performance art company, Needless Alley present In Embryo, a new and multidisciplinary performance integrating the talents of seven artists. Working with poetry, movement, music, dance and visual art, together they will question and reflect on social structures, cultural misconceptions and the dangers of totalitarianism.

How can we build a society with no leaders? Can a society be led by itself as a collective consciousness, without a leader? How do we fit individually within a collective society? What about our individuality, our tastes, our wants? How can communal decision making integrate and champion individuality at the same time?

Devised, performed and designed by Xavier de Sousa, Rutter & Bennett, Samuel Kennedy, Karine Rathle, Ollie Godwin & Joseph Garwood. Produced by Xavier de Sousa & Alex Murphy.

Running Time: 60 mins About Needless Alley

Needless Alley is a performance company which focuses on the exploration of artistic bonds on stage. Drawing on influences from both Modernist (dada) and post-dramatic performance, we look to create theatrical happenings through juxtapositions of and collisions between artistic practices during the performance, combining poets, musicians, dancers, performance and live and visual artists.
