Following last year?s highly acclaimed, sell-out HMS Pinafore, Charles Court Opera returns to London's Little Opera House with a bold new production of The Mikado, Gilbert & Sullivan's madcap masterpiece.

A sharp satire of 19th century British politics and institutions, set in the fictitious Japanese town of Titipu, The Mikado is one of the most enduringly popular musical theatre pieces in history.

Under director John Savournin, Charles Court Opera, the ?a spunky little troupe with high-impact delivery? (Opera Now) give this all-time favourite a fresh and ambitious re-working - sung by an ensemble of nine singers, with the orchestral score re-arranged and performed by the widely acclaimed Eaton-Young Piano Duo. This dynamic revival comes to London's Little Opera House straight from a sell-out run at the Rosemary Branch Theatre, where it captured the imaginations of G&S stalwarts and newcomers alike.

Charles Court Opera was formed in 2005 by John Savournin, as a platform for young talent in opera,
operetta and music theatre. Six years after their first production, CCO has produced over twenty operas, musicals and pantomimes, and numerous concert performances around the world - in venues ranging from pub theatres to the National Concert Hall in Dublin. They are now respected as one of the UK?s most exciting and diverse young opera and theatre companies.

Unique to the company is their collaboration with Park Lane Young Artists the Eaton-Young piano
duo, who arrange the orchestral scores complete for piano four hands or two pianos, thereby allowing
performances in venues previously inaccessible for grand opera and operetta and introducing them to
wider audiences without having to compromise the musical substance.
