A company of five graduates from the well-reputed 'Acting and Contemporary Theatre' course at East 15 Acting School, led by emerging writer Meriel Hinsching and director Ed Theakston, are bringing a brand new play, Attic to the King's Head Theatre in Islington for six dates this summer.

Hinsching's debut play, Attic was initially developed as part of the school's Debut Festival, a pioneering event of new work, under the mentorship of playwright Charlotte Josephine (Blush, Bitch Boxer) and director Jesse Briton (Bound). Jesse Briton, also a graduate of the course, recently said of the play; "In her debut play Attic, new writer Meriel Hinsching displays a talent for plumbing emotional depths with a truthfulness and elegance that writers double her age struggle to muster... One to watch."

Attic is an intimate two-hander that invites you to follow the journey of Leonie and Bay as they relive their dangerous, boundary-pushing relationship in one night. By turns understated and visceral, Attic examines the dark, animalistic and unconventional sides to love between two people who never quite find their way back together. It is running for six dates, with the first being Sunday 28th and Monday 29th May at 8.30pm. It will also be running on 25 and 26 June and 2 and 3 July.

Director Ed Theakston last year co-directed the Best Play award-winning Bit of Sunshine (LOST Theatre One Act Festival) which following on from a hit Edinburgh Fringe run transferred to London's Theatre503. He is directing a cast of fellow East 15 graduates, Phoebe Stapleton (Lavinia in Dottir - Courtyard Theatre, Alice in Alice Unhinged - Pleasance) and Connor Harris (Nikola Tesla in Tesla - the Alchemist Theatre Company).

Attic is being produced by RedDeer Theatre Company, recently formed by collaborators Meriel Hinsching and Steinunn McQueen. RedDeer's aim is to produce raw, vulnerable and naturalistic writing in combination with bold imagery drawing from illustration, poetry and photography.
