Created by Gameshow and Emily Lim, and co-produced by CPT, GROWN UP - Five Children on a Mission to Understand the Grown Up World... - will play Camden People's Theatre, Thu 27 - Sat 29 October, 7PM. Press night is Fri 28 October, 7PM. Why do adults drink coffee? What do you do in the bank? Is it hard to let go of your past memories?

Grown Up is a new theatre show exploring the gap between what we teach the next generation and what they really want to know. Created by Gameshow (Matt Ryan and Matthew Evans) and director Emily Lim (co-director Brainstorm, Park Theatre & National Theatre), Grown Up is performed by a cast of five 10 year olds for an adult audience. The show is based on verbatim transcripts of answers given by adults to questions asked by children. As the adults' stories emerge, at turns moving, surprising and hilarious, the children begin to discover and question the world we have created for them and ask us to consider - is it really good enough?

The show was created in collaboration with local school, Netley Primary. Gameshow and Emily Lim undertook workshops with pupils, finding out what they wanted to know about adulthood, and then through a series of coffee and cake mornings and one-on-one interviews with a diverse group of local adults, elicited the answers the young people wanted to know. Grown Up is recipient of CPT's inaugural People's Theatre Award, established to recognise innovative Theatre Projects with the potential to have broad popular appeal.

Gameshow is run by Matt Ryan and Matthew Evans. Past work includes This Is The Moon (CPT & on tour); Stories for Strangers (Green Man Festival); The HS2 Project (CPT & mac birmingham); Space Junk (Lyric Hammersmith). The company has extensive experience working with schools and young people.

Emily Lim is a theatre director with a particular interest in creating community work with non-professional performers. Recent credits include Company Three's Brainstorm (Co director, National Theatre and Park Theatre); National Youth Theatre's Wuthering Heights (Director, Ambassadors Theatre); A Declaration from the People (Director, National Theatre) and Jeremy Deller's We're Here Because We're Here (Senior Associate Director, 1418 Now / National Theatre / Birmingham Rep and nationwide). Emily became Resident Director at the National Theatre as recipient of the inaugural Peter Hall Award in 2016.

Gameshow and Emily previously collaborated on the Chorus Project at Young Vic and Arch468.
