This Spring, The Epstein Theatre, Liverpool, will showcase its first in-house production since reopening two years ago - with Liverpool actress Pauline Daniels at the helm as director. Waiting for Gateaux is a whopping slice of comedy with HUGE belly laughs and comes to the Epstein Theatre in April 2015.

From the same writers as the smash hit play Dirty Dusting, the show tells the story of Maureen, a 'big-boned' 50-something widow who runs Mo-tivators, the worst health and fitness club in the country. The group meet in a small hall in the middle of nowhere, and the club only attracts clientele who have nothing better to do. This is club where you can have your cake and eat it - quite literally!

Jackie comes to get away from her philandering husband and she's started to bring along her young sister Whitney to keep her out of trouble. Donald comes because he secretly loves Maureen - he's lost 12 stone so far - and if he doesn't ask her out soon there'll be nothing left of him!

Things seem to be on the up when Sophie, a researcher for a reality TV programme, comes to check out the club. But when a snowstorm arrives it brings with it revelations which will change their lives forever in this comedy about friendship, frostbite and French fries.

Written by Ed Waugh and Trevor Wood and with Liverpool favourite Pauline Daniels taking the double hot seat as both director and lead character of Maureen, the show promises to be a comedy of gigantic proportions. Pauline is joined by a fantastic cast ofSuzanne Collins as Sophie, Lynn Francis as Jackie and Andy Ford as Donald. With more cast to be confirmed.

Rebekah Pichilingi, Theatre Manager at The Epstein Theatre, said: "We are very excited to be working with Pauline Daniels and a wonderful local cast on the first in- house production at the venue for many years. After opening the doors again to the public in 2012, this beautiful Liverpool theatre has been working towards in-house producing and I really wanted our first to be a riotous comedy and I know our audiences are going to love it. We aim to announce our next Epstein production for Autumn 2015 season next Spring, and are working towards in-house productions becoming a regular highlight in the Epstein's programme."

Waiting For Gateaux director, Liverpool actress Pauline Daniels, added: "Waiting For Gateaux is a very exciting project and I'm thrilled to be directing and appearing in the very first in-house production at The Epstein Theatre. It is a wonderful gem of a place that offers all round entertainment for music, comedy and visiting theatre companies - but this is very special. I just know they will love this production because it will give them the chance to do what Scousers do best, laugh!"
