An innovative production company with a mission has just launched in Wales to tackle difficult, tricky and unexplored subjects across theatre, film, dance and music in the UK. Founded by actor and director, Richard Corgan (known from Baker Boys, Doctors, Casualty and Diana), the company is backed by a high-calibre team with extensive theatre knowledge.

Table#21 Productions will test human behaviour and response in order to mentally, morally and creatively challenge their audiences. The company will cross disciplines and blur the lines of theatre, film, dance and music to tell stories and deliver a unique experience. At the same time, Table#21 Productions will offer a platform to new writers, directors, designers, musicians and film makers that showcases the diversity and depth of creative talent in Wales and beyond.

Mind (their first production scheduled for autumn 2014) will explore the manifestation of mental illness, telling the story from the inside out, to study the workings of the affected mind. Dr Susan Smith MBBCh MRCPsych, one of the country's leading psychiatrists, said 'The representation of serious mental illness in the theatre and on film is easy to get wrong. Accurate portrayal however can do a lot to educate the public about the devastating effects of these illnesses and lead to greater understanding, which in turn reduces stigma. I am excited to be involved in advising on this important project...'.

Table#21 Productions are currently fundraising in order to bring Mind to the stage and more information can be seen on www.table21productions.com or http://www.sponsume.com/project/table21-productions.

Richard Corgan's extensive theatre credits include Chekov's A Provincial Life directed by Peter Gill for National Theatre Wales, Taming of the Shrew for the Globe, Gardening: For the Unfulfilled and Alienated for Undeb Theatre at Latitude Festival and Edinburgh Fringe (winner of a 2013 Fringe First award), It's About Me at the Hampstead Theatre, The Long, The Short & The Tall at the Pleasance, Frozen for Sherman Cymru, Otello and others for the Royal Opera House. His onscreen credits include Doctors (returning character Dafydd 'Dav' Llewellyn), Baker Boys (two series), Casualty, Caught in the Web and The B Word. He was recently seen in the feature film Diana.
