Sapulpa Community Theatre Especially for You 2009 -2010 SEASON

"The Premature Corpse" ~ September 11-13, 18-20, 2009
by Mike Johnson
A masterfully plotted crime thriller with lots of twists and turns. The scene is a hotel room, where we meet a man in the government witness protection program and his not-so-loving wife. Throw in the wife's lover, who is also the husband's best friend and accountant, who would also just as soon see the husband killed by the mob, and a gung-ho government agent who is determined to protect his witness at all cost, or so it would seem - and you've got a show that is full of surprises and is sure to keep you on The Edge of your seat!

"Finders Creepers" ~ October 16-18, 23-25, 2009
by Donald Payton
Hercules' aunt and uncle invite him and his best friend, Lucas, to spend the weekend with them. Suitcases in hand, the boys arrive to discover that Uncle Bob is a mortician and there's a funeral scheduled Monday. Well, it's not long before strange things start to happen .. the corpse walks, reads the paper, and climbs into bed with Hercules. He gallivants around in a most un-corpus delicti fashion! Needless to say, the boys are terrified until they find out the Mr. Quigley, the corpse, isn't really dead. Someone tried to knock him off while he was asleep so he devised a plan: make his family think he was dead, then show up at his own funeral and trap the guilty party. A good plan and things would have ended peacefully, but there are two things he failed to consider: Lucas and Hercules. Hang on for one of the wildest finishes ever!

"The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge" ~ December 11-13, 18-20, 2009
by Mark Brown

The trial of the century! A year after his miraculous transformation, Ebenezer Scrooge is back to his old ways and is suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander pain and suffering, attempted murder and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. The ghosts employ England's most clever, savvy and charismatic barrister. Scrooge, that old penny pincher, represents himself. One by one, the ghosts take the witness stand to give their account of the night in question. But the Spirit of Christmas Future breaks down under heavy questioning and confesses that Jacob Marley forced the spirits to break one of the rules of redemption: Don't try to scare someone into redemption. Fun fare for the Holidays!

"Our Town" ~ February 5-7, 12-14, 2010
by Thornton Wilder
Change comes slowly to a small New Hampshire town in the early 20th Century. People grow up, get married, live, and die. Milk and the newspaper get delivered every morning, and nobody locks their front doors. An immortal tale of small town morality. "No American play describes more powerfully how we imagine ourselves." "A Masterpiece ~ one of the sagest, warmest and most deeply human scripts to come out of theatre."

"Everybody Loves Opal" ~ April 9-11, 16-18, 2010
by John Patrick

Opal Kronkie, a middle-aged recluse, lives in a decaying mansion at The Edge of the municipal dump. The general chaos of her home is aggravated by the fact that Opal collects things - anything that can be toted home in her little red wagon. Opal is also an optimist, for no matter how mean her lot - or her "friends" - Opal responds with kindness and faith in the goodness of human nature. Into her rather strange world come three purveyors of bogus perfume on the lam from the cops. Opal's ménage is the perfect hideout, and she might be the remedy for their shattered finances. Attempted murder wouldn't seem to be funny, but here it is uproarious. The unsavory trio plot to drop the ceiling on Opal's head, they try to drug her and set the house on fire - a plan for a ‘hit and run' accident backfires. Through it all, Opal radiates kindness, affection and, strangely enough, gratitude. But the real clincher comes at the end when ...

C.S. Lewis, dramatized by Joseph Robinette
