Odeum Theatre Open Auditions for "Bug," by Tracy Letts

July 17, 1:00pm

Odeum opens their 2010-2011 season with the work of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright and Tulsa native, Tracy Letts: Agnes is a divorced waitress with a drug addiction hiding out from her abusive ex-husband, Jerry, in a seedy Oklahoma motel room. Her lesbian friend, R.C., brings soft-spoken Gulf War drifter, Peter, to visit after a night on the town. Peter, having no place to stay, humbly accepts Agnes' invitation to crash on the motel floor. However, it is not long before Agnes has promoted him to her bed, and their relationship has rapidly escalated beyond the platonic. Matters grow complicated when Jerry - only recently released from prison - locates Agnes and determines to resume their previous relationship. Additionally, an eerie bug infestation has Agnes and Peter fighting welts and sores with ever increasing intensity. Peter believes the bugs to have been planted under his skin during a recent stay at a military hospital facility - an experiment gone awry... Fears
escalate to paranoia, conspiracy theories, and twists in psychological motives.

We will be reading for the following adult roles:
R.C. (Ronnie) - 30s or older, R.C. is the lesbian friend of Agnes. A partier who introduces Peter to Agnes.
Goss (Jerry) - Early 40s, Goss is Agnes' ex-con ex-husband, returned from prison, presumably to pick up where they left off.
Dr. Sweet - 30s or older, Dr. Sweet is the Army doctor who tended to Peter while he was there.

Please arrive on time, with headshot and resume.

Callbacks will be Sunday, July 18, at 1 pm.

Performances are September 30 - October 10.
