The Collective NY presents the 2nd annual COLLECTIVE:10, two curated programs of new 10-minute plays. Performances begin October 8 at Teatro Circulo. Last year's inaugural Collective:10 performed to sold-out audiences and featured the talents of Ellen Burstyn and Elizabeth Kemp. This season's plays, selected from over 1000 blind submissions, will also be published as an anthology. (more...)

Delicate Steve is the brainchild of New Jersey-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Steve Marion. The band will open for psych rockers Tame Impala as they embark on a U.S. tour this fall in support of their latest release, 2012's Lonerism. The October broadcasts of The New York Philharmonic This Week - the weekly radio series of concerts and recordings by the New York Philharmonic, hosted by Alec Baldwin - begins with Jeffrey Kahane conducting the New York Philharmonic in J.S. Bach's Concerto for Violin and Oboe, featuring Principal Associate Concertmaster Sheryl Staples (now the Orchestra's Acting Concertmaster) and Principal Oboe Liang Wang with Mr. Kahane leading from the harpsichord; Mozart's Symphony No. 33; and Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Mr. Kahane conducting from the piano. Paloma Herrera, Julie Kent and Xiomara Reyes, Principal Dancers with American Ballet Theatre, have announced their retirements from the Company at the conclusion of the 2015 Metropolitan Opera House season in New York City. 'These three unique ballerinas have each made such distinctive contributions to ABT throughout the years,' Artistic Director Kevin McKenzie stated. 'With them, an era of our history resides. Aronofsky (b. 1969, Brooklyn) is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Now in its sixth season, the annual Stuart Regen Visionaries Series honors leading international thinkers and creators in the fields of art, architecture, design, dance, film, literature, and technology, and marks a commitment by the New Museum to consider their effects on culture at large. This solo show re-imagines the black experience through a host of characters as they battle the community they supposedly come from while fighting their own isolation in search of an identity that lives outside the box of tribalism. Think modern circus meets Mumford & Sons/Williamsburg, complete with wooden props and hoops made directly from resources available at the forests and farms surrounding their hometown.
