TV: Cabaret Producer and Host Stephen Hanks Talks Upcoming CABARET CAMPAIGNS: RIDE THE BLUE WAVE Victory Shows at Don't Tell Mama
Cabaret show producer Stephen Hanks felt compelled to combine his passion for the art form of cabaret and his disgust with the rise of voter suppression and white supremacy during the Trump Presidency into raising money for Democratic candidates running in the 2018 Midterm Elections. From April to October 2018, Hanks produced and hosted a series of five critically-acclaimed variety fundraising shows at the iconic club Don't Tell Mama titled CABARET CAMPAIGNS: RIDE THE BLUE WAVE 2018!, during which 28 performers represented Democratic Senate, Congressional, Governor, and State Legislative candidates, with all the proceeds from the shows going to the various campaigns.
Now, Hanks and company will celebrate the wins from the Midterm Election with a pair of CABARET CAMPAIGNS victory shows this Sunday, January 13, and Monday, January 14. I sat down with Hanks ahead of them to get more info. Check out the video!
Stephen Hanks's CABARET CAMPAIGNS: RIDE THE BLUE WAVE ELECTION VICTORY SHOWS will play at Don't Tell Mama on January 13 at 5:00 PM and January 14 at 7:00 PM. For tickets and information, visit www.donttellmama.com.
