Dancers Announced to Perform at The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo

The Producers of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, today announced the huge Highland dancer contingent that will perform in Melbourne from 12 February. Highland dancers from Australia and around the world will join the 1200 performers set to march into Etihad Stadium.

Former World Champion and Director of Dance of The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Aileen Robertson, said "We're absolutely thrilled at how the dance piece for Melbourne is coming together and await overwhelmed with excitement the opportunity to reveal our 'poetry of the foot' on February 12th".

Performing alongside the International Highland Dancers, will be the highly acclaimed OZSCOT HIGHLAND DANCERS.

OzScot Australia scoured the country and selected 50 of the best highland dancers who hail from Kalgoorlie, Perth (WA), Hobart, Launceston (TAS), Millicent, Adelaide (SA), Canberra (ACT), Sydney, Bathurst, Newcastle (NSW), Cairns, Townsville, Brisbane (QLD), Portland and Melbourne (VIC).

OzScot Australia first performed with The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo in Scotland in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's Golden Jubilee. Since then, OzScot has toured many of the major International Tattoo events to much acclaim.

Dance Director of OzScot Australia, Cheryl Roach OAM, said "OzScot's choreography reflects a unique blending of traditional highland dance steps providing a challenging combination for the dancer and a fresh experience for the Melbourne audience".

With its unique, stirring blend of military ceremony, music and entertainment, The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is one of the most popular events in the world.
