Shows, Tastings Set for Fabulous Fox Theatre's Curtain Call Lounge This August

Curtain Call Lounge at the Fabulous Fox Theatre, St. Louis' premier Champagne bar, is pleased to announce its August schedule entertainment and tasting classes.

Stylish and intimate, Curtain Call provides the perfect setting for a special night out in a one-of-a-kind venue.

Curtain Call will be open Wednesday, Friday and Saturday through August. Happy Hour is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with $2 off beer and cocktails. Wednesday evenings will feature blues music and beverage tastings as a complement to Grand Center's Wednesday Night Jazz Crawl. Fridays and Saturdays will feature a variety of local talent.


August 3 * Rose Champagne and Cheese Flight * | 7pm - 8:30pm

This Champagne flight will combine regional cheeses with a selection of four different pink Champagnes and sparkling wines from independent producers. Discover and compare some of the premium award-grower Champagnes. Flights are $35 per person.

August 5 - Anita Jackson | 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.

Soulful and swinging, vocalist Anita Jackson draws from jazz, blues, and gospel influences, Jackson's powerful voice and commanding stage presence have endeared her to audiences throughout the region. Don't miss this one-night-only event with one of St. Louis' finest ladies of song! There is a $10 cover charge at the door.

August 6 - Michelle McCausland, Female Impersonator | 9:00 - 11:30 p.m.

Michelle McCausland is a well-known entertainer for the LGBT community and a highly acclaimed show director. Miss Gay Missouri in 2012, McCausland and her special guests look forward to bringing their popular show back to Curtain Call. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.

August 10 * Blanc de Blancs Champagne & Sparkling Flight * | 7pm - 8:30pm

This week's flight features Blanc de Blancs - "white from whites." In Champagnes, the wine has been produced entirely from Chardonnay grapes. For sparkling wines from outside the Champagne region of France, they are produced of any white grape either as a pure or varietal. This tasting is designed for fans of Chardonnay wines who want to learn more about what this versatile grape can do. It's also ideal for those who think "dry, buttery, mineral-tinged with notes of brioche" is the description of a Champagne they could love. Flights are $35 per person.

August 12 - The Unit Jazz Band featuring Roland Johnson | 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.

The Unit Jazz Band has toured professionally nationwide and internationally with some of the entertainment industry's best. Featuring Roland Johnson, the band will perform popular jazz, soul, blues and contemporary music renditions. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.

August 13 - The Legendary Melvin Turnage Band featuring Tonya Poynter | 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.

The Melvin Turnage band provides music lovers with their favorites: '60s Motown, rhythm & blues, jazz, soul, funk, and big band sounds. For more than 30 years, the Melvin Turnage Band has performed concerts nationwide and has toured internationally in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Greenland, Central America and the Caribbean Islands. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.

August 19 - Skeet Rodgers, Ms. Hi-C and the Inner City Blues Band | 8:30 - 11:30 p.m.

One of the best blues bands in St. Louis, Skeet Rodgers & the Inner City Blues Band features the incredible, substantial voices of Jaycinta "Hi-c" Griffin and Charles "Skeet" Rodgers delivering the passion, power, and pain of the blues like no one else can. There is a $15 cover charge at the door

August 20 - Michelle McCausland, Female Impersonator | 9:00 - 10:30 p.m.

August 24 * The Sparkling Wines of Napa Valley Flight * | 7pm - 8:30pm

While Napa Valley is often known for its Cabernet Sauvignon and other Bordeaux varietal wines, it is also home to sparkling wine producers. The flight will include four of the top estates best known for being small grower-producers of Methode Champenoise sparkling wine. Enjoy these fabulous American sparkling wines paired with a small bite canapes to enhance each flight. Flights are $35 per person.

August 26 - Stubborn Kinda Fellas | 8:00 - 11:00 p.m.

"Stubborn Kinda Fellas" is a fitting tribute to the band's music and to R&B pioneer Marvin Gaye, whose first top ten hit single "Stubborn Kind of Fellow" was recorded in 1962. The group's specialty is the classic oldies and rhythm and blues of the '60s & '70. There is a $10 cover charge at the door.

August 27 - The Unit Jazz Band featuring Cheryl Brown and Jeremiah Allen * | 8 -10 pm

August 31 * Blanc de Noirs Champagne Flight * | 7pm - 8:30pm

This week's flight features "white from black," a white wine produced from red grapes. For a Champagne the wine is produced from either Pinot Noir, Meunier or a blend of the two producing a sparkling wine with colors ranging from a golden hue through various shades of rose. These are big, burly wines with lots of depth and the autumnal aroma profile of ripe apples and spices. Each will be paired with a hearty canape to enhance each wine selection. Flights are $35 per person.
