WHEN LION HAD WINGS is an ancient Khoikhoi folktale is told by three very different characters in English, Afrikaans and Nama. Animal masks and original songs are used to tell the story of a flying lion who is bullying all the animals and has made the vultures his slaves. A band of hilarious frogs leads the animals to discover their own talents and to stand up to the bully, while the storytellers continuously link the folktale to the language, culture and history of the Khoikhoi as well as to their personal experiences. Insights into the behaviour of humans and wild animals are also revealed.
