Secret Flames is a physical theatre piece for young teenager and adults. It is a Xhosa piece created by the cast with the mentorship of Bulelani Mabutyana (Ukao Theatre Director)
This is a story of twin sisters who want to know about their father with the mother holding the truth behind their father’s absence in their lives. It follows the twin’s daily struggle in the society. It highlights the effect that past has ones present life. Also shows how blood relatives can be so powerful when standing to overcome obstacle.
The Latin word ‘Limen’ can be translated as ‘threshold’ and refers to the creative, transitional, in-between space between different positions. Although this marginal experience can be stressful, it offers lots of potential for renewal. Directed by Riaan Visman. A Theodrama as performing arts installation, ‘Limen’ explores these betwixt-and-between spaces which come to the fore in the great themes of Lent and Easter – that of waiting, wailing and rescuing hope. ‘Limen’ is a site-specific piece drawing on experiences of illness and suffering, but also of new life and recreation. As a multidimensional, multisensory and interactive performance, it gives inroads into reflecting on these universal themes and partaking in them.
