This Spotlight focuses on John Wuchte, a talented actor/director/writer/composer and amazing Tribal Acting theater creator, who I first met during last year's Hollywood Fringe Festival when I attended his masterful musical production Scarlett Fever which told the true story of the great search to find an actress to portray Scarlett O'Hara in Gone with the Wind in 1939. The production utilized John's unique style of performance, which he calls Tribal Acting; a combination of movement, gesture, song and dance, all accompanied by live percussion. And I was hooked!
Arts Brookfield and Third Rail Projects (creators of the seminalimmersive hit THEN SHE FELL, now in its 7th year of performances) have collaborated for over 10 years, creating and presenting 10 site-specific pop-up performances. As part of its 30th Anniversary programming, Arts Brookfield has now commissioned Third Rail Projects' newest site-specific pop-up, OASIS, for the Winter Garden at BrookfieldPlace -- the shopping, dining and office complex on the Hudson River in Lower Manhattan. Free performances will be offered through April 12.

Just yesterday, Ben Kallos, Council Member of the 5th District, honored Penn & Teller for their 40th anniversary of inspiring and thrilling audiences. The duo has a long and storied history entertaining New Yorkers and deep roots in New York City. Penn & Teller have had two off-Broadway and three Broadway engagements. Their first off-Broadway appearance in 1985 at the Westside Arts Theatre put them on the map. They first played Broadway in 1987. PENN & TELLER ON BROADWAY marks their return to New York 30 years after their premiere here and is a bona fide hit; it closes this Sunday, August 16.
Their numerous honors include an Obie Award, an Emmy, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - and now a Proclamation from the city of New York.

Circus comes to New York City as part of City Parks Foundation's SummerStage Kids International Contemporary Circus Festival, with free performances in all five boroughs from June 26 - August 17, 2015. New Yorkers will be dazzled by Bollywood-style juggling, hoop diving and partner acrobatics shows specially designed to entertain all ages! Broadway fans had plenty of reasons to celebrate this year, with dozens of shows having opened since January, hundreds of actors having made their debuts, and many more having returned to the stage for critically acclaimed performances. Not all news was good though, as we also suffered a loss of an incredible amount of talent.

The New 42nd Street Gala took place on Wednesday, December 5, 2012, to celebrate the New Victory Theater Education Programs. The event honored the Australia Council for the Arts and included a performance by the Melbourne-based Australian troupe, Circus Oz, followed by a dinner reception at the Liberty Theater. The event was co-chaired by Adelina Wong Ettelson, Sarah Jessica Parker and Fiona Howe Rudin. Naomi Watts and Liev Schreiber attended as guests.

Cirque du Soleil will return to New York this coming spring with an all-new big top production TOTEM. Written and directed by internationally-acclaimed director Robert Lepage, TOTEM will begin performances Thursday, March 14, 2013 for a limited engagement under the blue-and-yellow Big Top at its new location Citi Field (Lot C), home of the New York Mets.
