BWW Interviews: Robert Creighton: Making It Real
by Carla Maria Verdino-Süllwold - Aug 5, 2015

'The more real you play it, the better for any piece, even a comedic piece like this one.' Stage and television actor Robert Creighton is talking about his upcoming role debut in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, which opens August 6th at the Maine State Music Theatre. Creighton, who is playing the meaty role of Frankenstein's bungling, hunchbacked assistant Igor, says of his approach to the part, 'The script is so good, so honed that I just have to say the words and stay out of their way. I don't have to mug. It is so well-crafted that I simply embrace the stupidity of it all, enjoy that and watch the audience enjoy it, too. When you play it for real, you are not making fun of the humor or commenting on the material, and the situation takes care of itself.'

BWW Blog: Eric Jackson of Transcendence Theatre's 'Broadway Under the Stars - 'I Want to Believe That I Can Achieve What I Dream'
by Christina Mancuso - Aug 3, 2015

Two mainstage shows gone.  Even with weeks of fully well lived days, if I blink my eye then the summer will be completely over.  This really occurred to me this past weekend when the curtain came down on our Fantastical Family Night Concert.  That event not only marked the end of our second (out of four) scheduled Broadway Under the Stars concert series, but it also was the end of a very special week working with over 50 students at our Transcendence Kid's Camp.  Major kudos go out to all of the performers hired on the Fantastical Family Night contract.  These performers do the most work in the shortest amount of time in the season.  But honestly, I think it's also the most rewarding show too.

Photo Flash: First Look at IT'S ALL GREEK TO ME, Extended thru May 23 at Old Mill Theatre
by BWW News Desk - May 17, 2014

Following a successful three-week season, an extra performance of It's All Greek To Me has been scheduled for 8pm, Friday, May 23. Typically used to highlight not understanding, the phrase 'it's all Greek to me' now lends itself to the title of a play premiering at the Old Mill Theatre this month. Written by WA playwright Noel O'Neill and directed by Valerie Dragojevic, hilarity turns to disaster in a comedy of errors set in 1960s London when a man makes a promise he cannot keep. Scroll down for a first look at the cast in action!

Photo Flash: MARILYN ... MADNESS & ME Extends Through Oct 20 at El Portal Theatre
by BWW News Desk - Oct 8, 2013

The writer who gave television some of its favorite moments in entertainment with 'Flamingo Road,' 'Dallas,' 'Falcon Crest,' 'The Colbys,' 'General Hospital,' and 'Dynasty,' Frank V. Furino, has brought Marilyn Monroe back to life ... on stage in 'Marylin ... MADNESS & Me,' which is based on an original concept by Didier Bloch, under the direction of Joe Leonardo. Opening in the Monroe Forum at the El Portal Theatre on Sept 26th for a limited run, the overwhelming response from the public and press alike, has resulted in the production's extension through October 20th, 2013, at which point the destiny of the show, with an eye on Broadway's Great White Way, will be determined. Scroll down for photos from the show!

BWW Interviews: Peter Lockyer on LES MISÉRABLES, Coming to Austin May 29-June 3
by Kathy Strain - May 19, 2012

In April of 2012, Peter Lockyer joined the U.S. Tour cast taking over the role of Jean Valjean. Peter Lockyer played Marius on Broadway many years ago and now has this new opportunity to play Jean Valjean. I recently interviewed Peter and learned a lot about his career and how he feels about being part of musical history.
