The Lakewood Playhouse presents the fourth show of its 77th season, its debut presentation of the American classic DEATH OF A SALESMAN by Arthur Miller, running tomorrow, February 19th, through March 13th, 2016. This production will also mark the continuation of Lakewood's year-long celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Lakewood Playhouse Theatre. From TAMING OF THE SHREW in its first year to AVENUE Q at the end of this season, Lakewood will have presented more than 300 productions at this venue, built in 1965 by the Lakewood Arts Foundation. Legendary actress Patricia Neil passed away yesterday, August 8, at her home in Martha's Vineyard at the age of 84. Neal had been fighting lung cancer for several years.
Last night, March 15, the stars came out to celebrate 64 years of Liza Minnelli, who turned 64 on March 12, 2010. Friends such as Parker Posey, Joel Grey and Billy Stritch celebrated with a night of performances honoring Liza, one of theater's all-time greats. Minnelli herself took the stage at the end of the evening.
Set in French Guiana, a region where on Christmas Eve the temperature has graciously dropped to 104 degrees, three amiable convicts are employed as roofers above the Ducotel's general store. The roof winds up being the least of the family's troubles.
