Exactly one year after its world premiere in the Owen Theatre, Noah Haidle's Smokefall, directed by Anne Kauffman, makes its Albert Theatre debut-becoming the third production in Goodman Theatre's 90-year history to transfer from the theater's smaller stage to the mainstage in order for more audiences to experience an acclaimed new play. An exploration of the power and fragility of love through three generations of family life, Smokefall in its debut set the record of highest number of individual tickets sold in Owen Theatre history, and the production topped the 'Best of 2013' lists among major Chicago media. Acclaimed playwright and screenwriter Noah Haidle explores the passage of time and the fleeting pleasures of life through three generations of one family in Smokefall, his newest work, set in Grand Rapids, Michigan. ?Directed by Obie Award-winner Anne Kauffman in her Goodman debut, Smokefall is a world-premiere co-production with South Coast Repertory, running now through November 3 in the Owen Theatre (opening night is Monday, October 14). Last week, The Southern California Motion Picture Council presented their Annual Golden Halo Award Presentation. Among those being honored were Ja'net DuBois, Bridget MacDonald and John Pierre, but the evenings highlight was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to actress, comedienne and humanitarian, Geri Jewell. Among those in attendance to honor Ms. Jewell, were Alison Arngrim, Ed Asner, Kelsey Collins, June Faray, Ford Austin, Rose Marie, Margaret O'Brien and a special letter sent by Norman Lear. The 2010-2011 season of Glorya Kaufman Presents Dance at the Music Center begins by welcoming the debut of Spain's only classical ballet company Corella Ballet Castilla y León to the Ahmanson Theatre, November 5-7,2010. The company was founded by American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Ángel Corella to promote classical ballet in Spain and to nurture Spanish dancers and offer them an opportunity to cultivate their talent in their home country. Corella Ballet Castilla y León offers a wide repertoire, incorporating classical, neoclassical and contemporary choreography.
