Profiles Theatre continues its 25th Anniversary Season with the Midwest premiere of Wrecks by Resident Artist Neil LaBute, directed by Guest Artist Jason Gerace and featuring acclaimed Chicago actor John Judd. The production runs October 3 - November 17, 2013 at The Alley Stage, 4147 N. Broadway.

MCC Theater recently announced that Neil LaBute's new play, Reasons to be Happy, also directed by LaBute, will now extend through Saturday, June 29th. Reasons to Be Happy is a companion piece to LaBute's critically-acclaimed award-winning play,Reasons to Be Pretty, first produced at MCC Theater in 2008 before moving to Broadway where it was nominated for three 2009 Tony Awards, including Best Play. Milwaukee Chamber Theatre (MCT) presents the world premiere of BROKEN AND ENTERED by Madison-based playwright Kurt McGinnis Brown, now through October 14, 2012. After presenting a staged reading of the piece in 2010, MCT brings this new play, which examines changing neighborhoods and perceptions, to its mainstage. BROKEN AND ENTERED performs in the Broadway Theatre Center's Studio Theatre in Milwaukee's Historic Third Ward. Get a first look at the production in the photos below!

Written to honor the walking wounded following the war brought on by 9/11, Christopher Shinn's Dying City makes its Sacramento premiere at Capital Stage under the direction of the company's Producing Director, JoNathan Williams and featuring the cast of Chad Deverman and Lyndsy Kail. The final production of Capital Stage's seventh season, and its first season in its new midtown location, is currently running through August 12, 2012. Shaleeha G'ntamobi's stirring new play about an alcoholic black mother and her card sharp son trying to get out of the projects has just been accepted into the nation's preeminent theater festival. Trouble is, Shaleeha G'ntamobi doesn't exist, except in the imagination of wannabe-playwright Danny Larsen (Jonathan Groff), who created her as a kind of affirmative-action nom-de-plume.

New Georges (Susan Bernfield, Artistic Director; Sarah Cameron Sunde, Associate Director; Jaynie Saunders Tiller, Managing Director), the OBIE Award-winning downtown theater company founded in 1992, will present 'THE GERM PROJECT,' featuring the work of playwrights Kara Lee Corthron (directed by Kara-Lynn Vaeni), Lynn Rosen (directed by Shoshana Gold), Kathryn Walat (directed by Portia Krieger), and Anna Ziegler (directed by Beatrice Terry). The four 'germs' of full-length plays of scope and adventure commissioned by New Georges for this project will be presented together, fully produced, in a cohesive and satisfying ninety-minute intermission-less evening. There will be a connective thread to the pieces that will take place with visuals and storytelling. 'THE GERM PROJECT' will be performed at 3LD Art & Technology Center, 80 Greenwich Street (just south of Rector). Previews will begin on June 11, and the official Opening Night will be Monday, June 20 at 8:00 p.m. Performances will run through July 9.

The Phoenix Theatre of Indianapolis announces the Midwest Premiere of Goldie, Max and Milk, by Karen Hartman, a comedy about single motherhood that opens Thursday, February 3, 2011 on the Phoenix Theatre Mainstage and plays through Sunday, February 27, 2011.

Last night, June 3, MCC Theater kicked-off it's three day presentation of readings from Playwright-in-Residence Neil LaBute's FILTHY TALK FOR TROUBLED TIMES: SCENES OF INTOLERANCE. The company features Craig Bierko, Alice Eve, Johnny Galecki, Josh Hamilton, Justin Long, and Julia Stiles, who will take on a variety of plum LaBute roles in this series of 'shorts.' The readings continue tonight, June 4 and Saturday, June 5 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Proceeds will benefit MCC Theater's Playwrights' Coalition program, free PlayLab reading series, and literary development activities. Rehearsals began March 16 at Kansas City Repertory Theatre for the world premiere production of Venice, an explosive new musical written by Rep artistic director Eric Rosen and Matt Sax, creators of the hit hip hop musical Clay.
