Das Stadttheater Bremerhaven eroffnete am Samstag, den 19. September 2015, die neue Spielzeit mit der Premiere des Broadway-Musicals ANYTHING GOES von Cole Porter. Um 19.30 Uhr hob sich der Vorhang im Großen Haus fur die beschwingte Reise skurriler Passagiere an Bord eines Luxusliners. In dem Tanzmusical der Extraklasse erklingen Songs wie „I get a kick out of you" oder „You're the top", die zu den beliebtesten Jazzstandards und Steppnummern gehoren. Regisseur Nico Rabenald inszeniert erstmals in Bremerhaven. Die Musikalische Leitung liegt beim 1. Kapellmeister Ido Arad. (more...)

Academy Award nominee Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) plays Berenger in Eugene Ionesco's The Killer in a production that also features Kristine Nielsen, Paul Sparks and Robert Stanton. The Killer is newly translated by Michael Feingold and is directed by Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder). Last produced Off-Broadway in 1960, The Killer is the final production of Theatre for a New Audience's inaugural season at Polonsky Shakespeare Center, 262 Ashland Place. Previews begin Saturday, May 17, at 7:30pm for an opening Thursday, May 29, and a scheduled run through Sunday, June 29. The echoes of Kurt Weill's dark footsteps on the Santa Monica Pier will soon be heard on the historic seaside structure. Tony Award-winning actor/director Paul Sand is creating a limited-run show at what will be called the West End Theatre, transforming an enclosed observation deck at the end of the Santa Monica Pier into what will be a cabaret-style performing space. Inaugurating the theatre will be 'Kurt Weill at the Cuttlefish Hotel' - a performance of a collection of the famed German composer's songs - that will open Friday, Dec. 6. BROADWAY'S RISING STARS was co-directed by Tony Nominee Emily Skinner and Nightlife Award winning vocalist Scott Coulter. Designed to launch the careers of the next generation of Broadway stars, the show featured 20 of the most outstanding young talents from performing arts schools in New York and across the country. The future stars of the Great White Way were chosen during auditions throughout the spring and come from theatrical institutions including as AMDA, CAP21, Julliard, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, Carnegie Mellon, NYU, Marymount and the New School.
