Looking Back: The O.C.'s (and L.A.'s) BEST of 2009

BroadwayWorld/Costa Mesa's Michael Lawrence Quintos looks back at the highs of this past year. Orange County (or "The O.C." as it's more popularly nicknamed) saw a plethora of amazing theater this past year, thanks to a hits-driven national tour line-up at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, as well as some great productions at some local/regional companies such as South Coast Repertory and The Laguna Playhouse. Jerry Zaks Takes Over THE ADDAMS Family; Significant Changes Expected

The New York Times is reporting that Tony-winner Jerry Zaks has officially been brought in to take over and to supervise THE ADDAMS FAMILY. Zaks will be billed as the show's "Creative Consultant" with Phelim McDermott and Julian Crouch still listed as directors and production designers, but it's been made clear that Jerry Zaks is the new man in charge. He tells the Times that he is looking forward to "taking this original musical to the next level." As a result of taking this job, Zaks will no longer direct All About Me, which stars Dame Edna and Michael Feinstein. (more...)
