by Sarah Flinton - May 21, 2014

Having never been to the Regent's Park Open Air Theatre before, all I knew was the buzz and excitement other people gave off about previous shows there. Walking through the main entrance, immediately there's a warming and unique atmosphere; perhaps it's just because it's that time of year when we can finally sit outside in England with only a small chance of being rained on. It's a new season at the Open Air, and what better way to begin than with Arthur Miller's classic 'All My Sons', directed by Timothy Sheader. (more...)

'When Angels Die' Offers Hope to Rape Survivors and Others Affected by Crime'When Angels Die' Offers Hope to Rape Survivors and Others Affected by Crime
by BWW News Desk - Mar 22, 2014

A young single mother's world forever changed when she was raped and left for dead in her own home in July 1993. She survived, but her entire family was left with scars that took years to heal. 'When Angels Die' is Caroline de Chavigny's gripping, firsthand account of surviving The Shattering aftermath of a brutal rape. Her book offers hope to those living with fear because of a crime and provides a guide to regain control of their lives. It was many years before de Chavigny found the professional therapy that helped her family truly heal. 'I originally wrote the book as a form of self-help therapy because I couldn't find a book that offered a guide to life after a rape,' de Chavigny said. 'It's so difficult for anyone who has been a crime victim to know what to do and how to deal with the flood of questions and fears that surface. 'It takes time, but it's possible for crime victims to become crime survivors. I dedicate the book to those in transition.' 'When Angels Die' (Banney House Publications/$9.99 paperback and $4.99 e-book) is available at www.CarolinedeChavigny.com and www.Amazon.com. About Caroline de Chavigny Author Caroline de Chavigny was born in Montreal, Canada, and has a bachelor's degree in business. Through her latest book, 'When Angels Die,' de Chavigny aims to share how she overcame post-traumatic stress disorder after a vicious criminal attack, and she offers hope to others facing their own transitions from crime victims to survivors. Her desire to help others also led her write children's books, including 'A Sparrow's Sad Song' and 'Merry Birthday.' Her style of writing comes straight from the heart. All of de Chavigny's books are published by Banney House Publications. To order any of de Chavigny's books, go to www.CarolinedeChavigny.com or to www.Amazon.com. (more...)

by Christi Esterle - Jan 24, 2014

Conor McPherson's The Weir is all about the atmosphere, and Theatreworks certainly has it. Scenic designer Jonathan Wentz has built a cozy rural Irish pub with mismatched chairs, a turf fire, and Guinness on tap. The floorboards of the stage come right up to the front row of seats; you feel like you could walk right up to the bar and order yourself a pint (in fact, the audience is invited to do just that at the performance's conclusion). This is a small-town watering hole, a place where everybody knows everybody's business and men fresh from a hard day's work gossip like old ladies over beer and whiskey. (more...)
