Joplin's Pearl Featuring Amber Ferrari to Play PTPA, 11/1

The Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts (PTPA) will present JOPLIN'S PEARL FEATURING AMBER FERRARI on Saturday, November 1st at 8:00 PM. Amber is a powerhouse and during the first half of her show she will perform the music of some of her favorite Artists like Jefferson Airplane, Pat Benatar, Annie Lennox and others along with her own original music! The second half of her show is dedicated to the greatest rocker of them all, the legendary Janis Joplin. When she steps out on stage dressed as Janis herself and begins to sing, audience members will feel as if they have stepped back in time. With complete command of their styles and with authenticity of the music, even the original artists would find Amber Ferrari and her powerful band a fine tribute to their legacy. Amber will be joined by special guest saxophonist, Billboard Recording Artist Richie Cannata, best known for playing with Billy Joel and The Beach Boys. Comedian/MC Ike Avelli will be opening the evening and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Great South Bay Lions Club. Baltimore Symphony Orchestra to Host 'O Say Can You See' Gala, 9/20

Signaling the start of the social season, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO) will hold its annual Gala Celebration on Saturday, September 20 at 8:30 p.m. at the Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall. This year's Gala concert will be led by BSO Music Director Marin Alsop. On the heels of the 200th birthday of The National Anthem, the evening will showcase American music and artists, beginning with a revival of Ferde Grofe's Ode to the Star-Spangled Banner, brought back to the stage for its first public performance in 80 years. The program also features celebrated blind American jazz pianist Marcus Roberts with the Marcus Roberts Trio performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue; Center Stage's visionary Artistic Director Kwame Kwei-Armah narrating Copland's Lincoln Portrait; and the Morgan State University Choir lending their voices to selections from the composer's Old American Songs. The WHBPAC's Nancy & Frederick DeMatteis Arts Education Program invites you to be part of its one-of-a-kind, original performing arts program Melodies & Memories. Designed to foster the continuous development of skills and knowledge throughout the lives of older adults, this 10 week program meets from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, beginning September 16, and culminates in a public performance on Sunday, November 23.
