In my short absence from BroadwayWorld, I spent my time interacting with my community, meeting new people and having new conversations. These conversations focused on local and school theater. From parents to teenagers to elementary students, I met people who expressed their excitement about South Florida's rich theater community, but also their worry about the uncertainty of that rich theater community. Every year a budget cut occurs, the arts are the first item on the chopping block. While South Florida is a strong theater hub, many communities across the nation aren't as certain. These communities exist in a state of chance, which is an awful environment for developing arts education and promoting creativity for all ages. Thus, I present a well-thought plan that you, YES YOU, can use to bring theater to your community and keep it there.  (more...)

The Garden of Dreams Foundation Hosts Third Annual GARDEN OF DREAMS WEEK 11/28 – 12/2

The Garden of Dreams Foundation is coming together with The Madison Square Garden Company (MSG) and MSG Networks to host the third annual Garden of Dreams Week. From November 28 - December 2, children from across the tri-state area will enjoy once-in-a-lifetime experiences, including becoming honorary members of the Knicks and Rangers and participating in game-night activities, and learning choreography from the world-renowned Rockettes.  The week will also feature the distribution of 100 tablets to partner hospital organizations, made possible by a grant from Garden of Dreams to the enCourage Kids Foundation. Cleveland Orchestra Children's Chorus Celebrates 50 Years

CAA Announces 2017 Overture Award Scholarship Winners

The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of its Overture Awards Competition, held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater, and the winner of its Arts Educator Award for Excellence in Arts Instruction. The competition awarded $4,000 to six area students for education and training, with 18 runners-up each winning $1,000, while the Arts Educator Award winner received $2,500 and two finalists were awarded $500 each.
