ZOMBIE Team Attends Independent Film Festival

Bestselling author and American literary giant Joyce Carol Oates, who recently penned her 116th book A WIDOW'S STORY about the death of her husband of 47 years, has had her novella ZOMBIE adapted into a short film. Written by Bill Connington, and directed by Thomas Caruso, the 19 minute film will be screened at the Washington DC Independent Film Festival on Monday, March 7th at 7 pm. The screening will be held at the Gala Theatre, 3333 14th Street NW, Washington DC, 20010. Metro stop: Columbia Heights. Tickets are $10. ZOMBIE will be shown with the films SISSY and AMBER ROSE as part of a program entitled 'Hot Topics - Dirty Little Secrets.' Born in Berkeley, California in the 1960s, Joshua Redman is the son of legendary saxophonist Dewey Redman and dancer Renee Shedroff. He is one of the most recognizable jazz saxophonists, as famous for his masterful straight-ahead post-bop improvisations as he is for his explorations of groove-based idioms. Redman won the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition for saxophone in 1991, and has played alongside of many jazz icons including Jack DeJohnette, Charlie Haden, Joe Lovano, Pat Metheny, and Clark Terry. ZOMBIE Wins Award at Washington DC Film Festival

ZOMBIE has won the Best Short Film (Horror) award from the Washington DC Independent Film Festival. The ZOMBIE team of director Thomas Caruso, lead actor/screenwriter Bill Connington, and producer Michael Cooper, attended the screening of the film on March 7th in Washington. ZOMBIE is a short film based on the award-winning play penned by and acted in by Connington. It was presented at the New York International Fringe Festival, Off-Broadway at Theater Row for an extended run, and at the Gerald W. Lynch Theater in New York. ZOMBIE is based on the award-winning novella by famous American author Joyce Carol Oates. The ZOMBIE team is currently developing the property as a feature film. (more...)

SUNFISH Takes Top Jury Honor at Daegu International Musical Festival

Sunfish, an American musical by the songwriting team of Michael Cooper and Hyeyoung Kim was awarded the top Jury Honor for Music Theater Production at the Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF) on July 8, 2013. DIMF is the largest international Musical Theatre Festival in the world. Sunfish was invited to open the Festival on June 17, 2013, and was one of over fifteen Official Invitational productions from all over the world. It was previously presented at the NAMT Festival, TRU Musical Series, and Disney/ASCAP Workshop with Stephen Schwartz. (more...)

The screenings were held at the Duo Multicultural Arts Center at 62 East 4th Street on Manhattan's Lower East Side on February 10th. ZOMBIE is based on the novella by New York Times Bestselling author and American literary giant Joyce Carol Oates. The film stars Bill Connington who has won several awards for his portrayal of the serial killer Quentin P., and was directed by Thomas Caruso, who has also garnered awards for his work on the piece.
