Second Stage Theatre's production of TERRENCE McNALLY's play, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, directed by PETER DuBOIS, will begin preview performances next Tuesday, October 7. Featuring MICHAEL CHERNUS (Obie Award winner for In the Wake), TRACEE CHIMO (Lortel Award winner for Bad Jews, 2ST Uptown's Bachelorette), AMERICA FERRERA (Emmy Award winner for 'Ugly Betty') and AUSTIN LYSY (2ST's The Water's Edge), the production will officially open on Wednesday, October 29. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, On Your Toes will have guest music direction by Encores! founding music director Rob Fisher and will play seven performances, from May 8 - 12 at New York City Center, W. 55th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). The "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet, originally choreographed by George Balanchine, will be staged by Susan Pilarre, who served as a Ballet Mistress of the show's 1983 Broadway Revival. (more...)

The Terrence McNally New Play Award is a cash prize given annually to recognize a new play that celebrates the transformative power of art. The new Broadway play Mothers and Sons from 4-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally, now playing at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street), will hold a special talkback tonight, April 23rd with Terrence McNally and Tyne Daly joined by fellow Tony Award winner Nathan Lane, who previously worked with McNally on Love! Valour! Compassion!; Bad Habits; Lips Together, Teeth Apart; Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams; and the film version of Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. Christine Baranski, Kelli Barrett, Walter Bobbie, Jeremy Cohen, Dalton Harrod, Randy Skinner, Shonn Wiley, Karen Ziemba,New York City Ballet Principaldancer Joaquin De Luz and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Irina Dvorovenkowill star in Rodgers and Hart's On Your Toes, the final Encores! presentation of the 2012-13 New York City Center season. Directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, On Your Toes will have guest music direction by Encores! founding music director Rob Fisher and will play seven performances, from May 8 - 12 at New York City Center, W. 55th Street (between 6th and 7th Avenues). The "Slaughter on Tenth Avenue" ballet, originally choreographed by George Balanchine, will be staged by Susan Pilarre, who served as a Ballet Mistress of the show's 1983 Broadway Revival. (more...)
