Smithsonian Gardens will present 'The Lost Bird Project,' an exhibit by artist Todd McGrain, today, March 27 through March 15, 2015. This project recognizes the tragedy of modern extinction by immortalizing North American birds that have been driven to extinction. Co-sponsored by Smithsonian Libraries, it will feature large-scale bronze sculptures of the Carolina parakeet, the Labrador duck, the great auk, the heath hen and the passenger pigeon. (more...)

Scenic designer, writer and professor, MARJORIE BRADLEY KELLOGG, and costume designer DEBORAH M. DRYDEN are among the 2014 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 2, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Ms. Kellogg will receive the Robert L.B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design and Ms. Dryden was selected to receive the 2014 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design. Ms. Kellogg's award will be presented to her by director Kenny Leon and Ms. Dryden's award will be presented to her by designer David Woolard. (more...)

ADAPTIVE ARTS is pleased to announce a staged workshop of its inaugural Theater For Young Audiences Production, Invisibility, or Tiny Rockets, by Lauren Ferebee directed by MARIELLE DUKE. The workshop takes place on Sunday, April 27th as part of an ongoing educational partnership with the YM & YWHA of Washington Heights/ Inwood. There is no cost for admission, but all donations go towards keeping Adaptive Art'sEducational Workshops free for Artists and Educators- encouraging more professionals to create accessible programming for students and audiences with disabilities. DAPHNE, Bach's Bass in B Minor & More Set for Cleveland Orchestra's 2014-15 Season

The Cleveland Orchestra has announced its 2014-15 season. Music Director Franz Welser-Möst's programs include Bach's Mass in B minor, and Brahms's Piano Concertos with Yefim Bronfman as soloist. Mr. Welser-Möst continues his long-standing tradition of opera performances at Severance Hall with concert performances of Richard Strauss's rarely heard opera Daphne. Guest artists returning to Severance Hall include Lang Lang, Christian Tetzlaff, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, and Mitsuko Uchida, and conductors Charles Dutoit, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos, and Fabio Luisi. Lowell's suspenseful psychological thriller THE LETTERS, featuring Beth Wilmurt (The Eccentricities of a Nightingale) and Michael Ray Wisely (The Arsonists).
