All-American small-town sweetheart Debbie Benton has one dream- to become a Texas Cowgirls Cheerleader. When she gets her big break, the only thing standing between her and success is the bus fare to Dallas. She and her friends get after-school jobs but when their jobs just don’t cut it, Debbie’s boss has an idea of how good girls can earn lots of money performing “little favors”. The girls get down to it with enthusiasm and through sex, sweat, and tears they raise enough money for Debbie to realize her dream. “Racy and raucous, a lighthearted, fast-paced thoroughly engaging and hilarious send-up.” – The New York Daily News

BWW Review: Blank Canvas Challenges Audience Sensibilities with SILENCE! THE MUSICAL
by Roy Berko - Oct 24, 2016

Pat Ciamacco, the curmudgeon of glee and horror, is at it again. While it seems almost by chance, the artistic director of Blank Canvas selects the likes of OUR TOWN, TWELVE ANGRY MEN and OF MICE AND MEN. But most often Ciamacco digs up such scripts as THE WILD PARTY (a play about decadence and uninhibited sexual behavior), REEFER MADNESS (the 'truth' about using marijuana), BAT BOY THE MUSICAL (the tale of a large-eyed fanged human child), TRIASSIC PARQ THE MUSICAL (a songfest 65-million years in the making), Debbie Does Dallas (a stage version of the 1978 pornographic film), and TEXAS CHAINSAW MUSICAL (the story of a handsome serial killer and his overly affectionate momma, staged complete with a 'blood zone,' where members of the audience chose, if they desired, to be bathed in fake blood!) BWW Review: DEBBIE DOES DALLAS is Sublimely Silly Satire
by Frank Benge - Dec 21, 2015

During the seventies, the adult film industry went through a very strange period of trying to make adult films with actual plots and dialogue. The attempts, to put it mildly, were laughable. The 'acting' was, at best, wooden and the dialogue ranged the gamut from stilted to repetitive. During this period, which has been dubbed 'The Golden Age of Porn' or 'Porno Chic', came some big box office successes. Among the biggest hits of this era was the film 'Debbie Does Dallas', released in 1978, close to the end of the period. By the early eighties, home video effectively ended the era where people went to movie theaters to see porn. (more...)
