Arts organizations throughout the country are on a constant quest to attract newer, younger, and more diverse audiences while maintaining their longtime, loyal supporters. Palm Beach Dramaworks is no exception. For a while now, PBD has been running a Pay Your Age initiative on select Sunday evenings for anyone 40 and under. The response has been so strong that, beginning with the run of Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's Sweeney Todd (July 14 - August 6), and continuing throughout the 2017 - 2018 season, Pay Your Age tickets will be available for all performances. Several additional outreach ventures are under consideration for the upcoming season as well. (more...)

Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival concludes its 51st season with a revival of the acclaimed Budapest Festival Orchestra production of Don Giovanni, directed and conducted by Ivan Fischer, with a cast led by baritone Christopher Maltman; Renee and Robert Belfer Music Director Louis Langree leading two Festival Orchestra programs featuring pianist Kirill Gerstein in his Mostly Mozart debut and violinist Gil Shaham; a special appearance by Langree on piano in a pre-concert recital with Susanna Phillips; and Mostly Mozart artists-in-residence International Contemporary Ensemble performing a nature-inspired program by three pioneering female composers and featuring Wu Wei in his festival debut. Mark C. Hanson Named Executive Director of the San Francisco Symphony

San Francisco Symphony (SFS) President Sakurako Fisher, on behalf of the Board of Governors, and Music Director Michael Tilson Thomas, today announced the appointment of Mark C. Hanson as Executive Director of the San Francisco Symphony (SFS). Hanson will succeed Brent Assink, who stepped down from the position in March 2017 after 18 years as the Orchestra's chief administrator. Hanson will begin his new post September 1. (more...)

People's Light is proud to announce Sanjit De Silva, James Ijames, Deepa Purohit, and Laura Schellhardt as the participating playwrights in the second round of the company's groundbreaking New Play Frontiers Residency & Commission program. The playwrights officially begin the program on July 9, 2017, in conjunction with the final performance of Project Dawn by Karen Hartman, the first New Play Frontiers play to premiere at People's Light. Sarasota Orchestra Receives $10,000 Grant from National Endowment for the Arts

The Sarasota Orchestra received a ­­­­­$10,000 grant from National Endowment for the Arts. The grant offers funding to area arts organizations in support of their artistic mission. The grant funds supported the 53rd Sarasota Music Festival (SMF or Festival). This three-week residency program brings together 60 exceptional young musicians and 40 renowned faculty artists for a series of coaching sessions, lectures, rehearsals and performances in Sarasota. Acrobats, break dancers, comedians, clowns, jugglers, daredevils, fire manipulators, hula hoopers, musicians, magicians, high-skill circus performers, a 44-time Guinness World Record Holder and more are among the over 100 world-class performers in this year's line-up. This inventive chamber opera scored for five voices, custom-built sound sculptures, string quartet and percussion will premiere September 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theater at the URBN Center Annex at Drexel University, 3401 Filbert Street.
