BWW Reviews: JUNGALBOOK at Sam Bass Showcases Young Talent
by Jeff Davis - Aug 6, 2014

If you attend Jungalbook, currently running at Sam Bass Theatre, leave your memories of the Disney movie at the door. The stage adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's short stories, written by Edward Mast, differs greatly from the iconic Disney film and from the original Kipling stories. While Kipling takes his inspiration from the jungles of India, Mast finds inspiration in children and their world. It's fitting then, that the Sam Bass Youth Guild would produce Mast's adaptation. It may not be Disney, but given the talent of the young cast, who cares? (more...)

BWW Interviews: Back to the Exam Books for Mad Cows's THE HISTORY BOYS
by Justin J Sacramone - Aug 24, 2014

As schools are opening their doors and welcoming students back, class at the Mad Cow Theatre Company is also back in session with a production of Alan Bennett's 2005 Tony Winning Play, THE HISTORY BOYS. My review on the production, running through September 7th, will be up early next week. In the meantime, I was able to interview some of the cast members. Instead of your basic interview with straightforward questions, I kept with the spirit of Bennett's scholastic play by passing out the blue books with three open-ended questions about some of the themes from the play. Although these answers will not be graded, I am sure if Irwin took a glance at them he would not be regarding them as "abysmally dull". (more...)

James Bishop Releases Fourth Book 'b1tM0NK'
by BWW News Desk - Aug 22, 2014

James Bishop, author of A Way in the Wilderness, Rocket Man, and The Dissident, has released his next novel about computer hackers, b1tM0NK (pronounced 'bitmonk'). In a world where Curiosity and wonder are stifled in the name of greater security, and the Sabet Computer Corporation dominates the industry, an unlikely hero emerges. Michael discovers a secret that his grandfather left for him, and as he delves deeper and deeper into the mysterious gift, he is drawn into a world of technology he never imagined. With the help of Atilla, an artificial intelligence training system, Michael battles for freedom of information, open-source operating systems, and Curiosity. James Bishop's fourth book, b1tM0NK, imagines a world where our current technology and legal system could take us, and warns us of the pitfalls of exchanging freedom for security. While hackers around the world are being criminalized, James Bishop imagines a world in which the hacker is the hero. A long-time champion of open-source software and computing, James draws from his decades of experience working in artificial intelligence and computer programming to tackle some of today's most controversial issues surrounding the hacking culture. Mr. Bishop's b1tM0NK is written for the hacker and for those who yearn to understand the hacker culture. For more information, contact R. Mannex at 707-322-2321 or by e-mail at russ@mannex.com.
