Curtains up! AIR TWYLA propels Pacific Northwest Ballet into its new season with a trio of works by its first artist-in-residence, renowned choreographer Twyla Tharp. The program includes the world premiere of Waiting at the Station with a commissioned score by New Orleans music legend Allen Toussaint. Sharing the program with Waiting at the Station are the Scottish-inspired Brief Fling (a PNB premiere) and Tharp's homage to Ol' Blue Eyes and ballroom dance, the unforgettable Nine Sinatra Songs. AIR TWYLA runs for only seven performances, tonight, September 27 - October 6 at Seattle Center's Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. (more...)

Yesterday, BWW interviewer Pat Cerasaro conducted an InDepth InterView with legendary Tony-winning set and costume designer Santo Loquasto which will be featured on BWW in the coming weeks, as well as his input on a feature article detailing the Grand Design of twelve-time Tony-nominated revival of FENCES which is currently playing. The following is his courteous and diplomatic response to being nominated for a Tony for his work on this season's revival of RAGTIME only to subsequently have the nomination removed on the basis that the Tony committee now feels his work is ineligible due to having created the costumes for the original production of the show and any new work done for the revival being largely a recreation. The Old Globe today announced the full cast and creative team for the World Premiere of Bright Star, a new American musical featuring music by Edie Brickell and Steve Martin, lyrics by Brickell, and book by Martin, based on an original story by Martin and Brickell. Directed by Walter Bobbie, Bright Star will run September 13 - November 2, 2014 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center.
