Rivers and Sanders make a great team, bouncing bawdy one-liners off each other with fluid ease throughout the first act. There is lots of slapstick humor, ranging from the famous "walk this way" physical gag to several modern references that kept the audience entertained and laughing. There are moments of true hilarity in the production, especially the tango seduction dance performed by Sanders and Markus Cummings. That scene alone is worth the price of admission! (more...)

BWW Review: LIGHT UP THE SKY Takes the Thespian Caricature Too FarBWW Review: LIGHT UP THE SKY Takes the Thespian Caricature Too Far
by Maggie Yates - Mar 20, 2015

'Light up the Sky' would have been more interesting as a show that functioned on two levels: a fun period farce and a smart satire about a play that's a smart satire. Instead, 'Light up the Sky' is fluffy and pointless; a superficial farce too unrelatable to be mindlessly funny, and not self-aware enough to be satirically comical. (more...)

by BWW News Desk - Feb 3, 2016

The King's College is proud to present the New York premiere of Charles Strouse and Lee Adams' virtually unknown first musical, A Pound in Your Pocket.  Strouse and Adams had just met as two young, aspiring artists when they collaborated on Pound in 1958. The show, adapted from a radio play written for Helen Hayes and based on the Charles Dickens novel The Old Curiosity Shop, had a short-lived albeit critically-acclaimed regional theater run, but soon became eclipsed by the international success of Bye, Bye Birdie. Now, almost six decades later, this history-making work can finally be seen by New York audiences. (more...)
