Based on the 20th Century Fox motion picture, with a screenplay by Gary Ross and Anne Spielberg

The 1987 hit movie featuring Tom Hanks bursts onstage in this vibrant, funny and touching musical. When frustrated adolescent Josh Baskin wishes he were "big" and wakes up the next morning a 30-year-old man, he discovers there's much more to being an adult than he's bargained for-and learns we must all grow up at our own pace, in our own time. A witty, moving, insightful book and a dazzling, energetic, heartfelt, contemporary score make this already classic motion picture fantasy an unforgettable theatrical experience. 'Big' is satisfyingly good. The music of David Shire, the lyrics of Richard Maltby Jr., the book by Jerome Weidman and the choreography by Susan Stroman extol all the values of the grand tradition of musicals. At the Kentucky Center for the Arts.

by BWW News Desk - Apr 24, 2015

Gallery Players' latest play takes Big ideas and historical events -- who invented television and how -- and turns them into a very intimate look at two men and their race to make the impossible possible. From the mind of Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing, The Farnsworth Invention is equal parts character study, history lesson (albeit not 100% historically accurate), and moving drama. Premiering May 2 at 8 pm in the Roth/Resler Theater of the JCC, the play tells the story of the invention of television from the perspective of its inventor, Philo T. Farnsworth, and his rival, RCA president and early radio pioneer, David Sarnoff. (more...)

BWW Reviews: ACT's CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF Not All That HotBWW Reviews: ACT's CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF Not All That Hot
by Jay Irwin - Apr 24, 2015

Tennessee Williams' searing southern drama, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" currently playing at ACT, opens with Brick (Brandon O'Neill) and his wife Maggie (Laura Griffith) in a heated conversation about the disintegrating state of their marriage and is filled with sexual tension. Or at least it should be. Unfortunately the relationship of Griffith and O'Neill's Maggie and Brick feels so stale and desperately one-note that there's nowhere for the characters to go. In fact it wasn't until Act Two that the play held much interest for me and really got into the richness of some of these characters. (more...)

In 1975, filmmakers Albert and David Maysles brought their cameras into the crumbling, palatial estate of Edith Bouvier Beale (the aunt of Jackie Kennedy) and her daughter, Little Edie. There they found two women ostracized from their community, hanging on to reality by a thread, and surrounded by dozens of cats and raccoons. Grey Gardens, the Musical examines both the back-story of this fascinating family and the fate they couldn't possibly have imagined.
