Since then, she has continued to wow audiences with her unique and versatile talent. She has performed in numerous Broadway shows, including RENT; Cinderella Enchanted, Dreamgirls; and Ain't Misbehavin', which earned her a Grammy nomination. Her television credits include being a top-five finalist on the first season of NBC's The Voice; a guest-starring role on the OWN Network's Wanda Sykes Presents: Herlarious; and voice-over work for the hit Nickelodeon cartoon, Wonder Pets. Porchlight Music Theatre Extends IN THE HEIGHTS Through November

Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce a second extension of Porchlight's 22nd season opener, the multi-Tony Award-winning In The Heights, now playing through Saturday, Nov. 19, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, book by Quiara Alegria Hudes. Directed and co-choreographed by Brenda Didier, co-choreographed by Chris Carter, music directed by Diana Lawrence and assistant directed by Adrian Abel Azevedo, at Stage 773, 1225 W. Belmont Ave. The  performance times are Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 4 and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. with an added Thursday matinee, October 6 at 1:30 p.m. There is no 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6. Porchlight Music Theatre and Artistic Director Michael Weber are proud to announce the 2016 - 2017 season of Chicago's hit musical revue series, New Faces Sing returning to Uptown Underground, 4707 N. Broadway and debuting at Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Ave in Skokie. In tribute to the original New Faces series that ran on Broadway and on film from 1934 - 1968, Porchlight Music Theatre last year created this Chicago musical revue series, New Faces Sing Broadway, as a showcase for the best emerging musical talent now performing on Chicago stages. Each edition is a journey from the start to the finish of a entire musical season on Broadway, peppered with photos and films of the era in an exciting multimedia presentation with a favorite Chicago theatre veteran hosting and introducing the next generation of music theatre artists and acting as your guide through a past season on the Great White Way. AIN'T MISBEHAVIN' Returns to The Harlem Repertory Theatre

The Harlem Repertory Theatre is reviving the 1978 TONY award winning musical 'Ain't Misbehavin', for a very limited engagement from October 8th to March 25th at the Tato Laviera Theatre at Harlem Prep Elementary School, 240 East 123rd Street (at 3rd Ave.), Manhattan. A swinging, rip-roaring musical tribute to the black musicians of the Harlem Renaissance, 'Ain't Misbehavin' opened on Broadway in 1978 as a musical revue of Jazz Legend Fats Waller's popular songbook, and it ended up winning a number of awards including the TONY for Best Musical. The Harlem Repertory Theatre's production of 'Ain't Misbehavin', which sold out it's 2008 run and won the AUDELCO 2008 Musical Production of the Year Award, is now returning to the Harlem Rep's stage for its' 2016-17 season in a new intimate cabaret style that will bring the audience closer to the performers. This brilliant showcase of Fats Waller's magnificent songbook will have audiences dancing in the aisles as the HRT's finest company members sing the toe-tapping, hand-clapping songs: T'Ain't Nobody's Business, This Joint is Jumpin', Honeysuckle Rose, the title song, Ain't Misbehavin', and many more! Paulo P. Lima, Ph.D. Named Senior Vice President and Chair of the Newly Created Arts & Culture Practice

His Eye is on the Sparrow, Larry Parr's stirring one-woman musical that celebrates the life of groundbreaking artist Ethel Waters, opens at The Armory on February 10, with previews beginning February 4 and performances running through March 19. Timothy Douglas returns to The Armory to direct the production and Darius Smith makes his debut as music director and accompanist. Maiesha McQueen returns after making her debut at The Armory last season in Ain't Misbehavin' to take on the role of Ethel Waters. (more...)

Porchlight Music Theatre's Executive Director Jeannie Lukow is proud to announce the hiring of the organization's first education director, Jillian Abbinanti. Abbinanti begins Monday, Dec. 12 in this new position that is charged with creating and building integrated education offerings for children, teens, professionals and hobbyists. In addition to creating and directing the new Education Outreach program and Summer Camp program, she will oversee the established School at Porchlight's professional and hobbyist class offerings, ensuring all education activities align with Porchlight's strategic goals.
