An off-shoot of Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin in the Sun, this wickedly funny and frank play about territory won both the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play. Clybourne Park's two acts are set 50 years apart. Act One takes place in 1959 as nervous community leaders try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house in the present day as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.

The Old Globe today announced the cast and creative team for the Globe's revival of N. Richard Nash's classic romantic comedyThe Rainmaker. Directed by Maria Mileaf, The Rainmaker will run July 13 - August 11, 2013 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Preview performances run July 13 - July 17. PCPA Theaterfest's upcoming 2013 Summer Season - which runs from June 13 through September 29 - features an effervescent assortment of theatrical experiences including musicals, comedies and penetrating drama. Berlin's Deutsches Theater was to present CLYBOURNE PARK, the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play, earlier this year - with a white actress in 'experimental makeup' playing the black characters Francine and Lena. Today, Village Voice columnist Michael Musto writes that the production was cancelled after playwright Bruce Norris revoked the rights; in a published letter to the Dramatists Guild, Norris explains his reasoning and condemns the tradition of blackface in German theatres:
