Kiss of the Spider Woman - 1993 - Broadway History , Info & More

Broadhurst Theatre (Broadway)
235 W. 44th St. New York, NY

Based on the novel by Manuel Puig

Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Kiss of the Spider Woman explores the complex relationship between two men caged together in an Argentinean prison. Valentin is a tough political revolutionary undergoing torture. Molina is an unabashedly gay man serving time for deviant behavior. Molina recounts to Valentin his favorite movie-musical fantasies, and it becomes a mental refuge for both as the lines of fantasy and reality become blurred. This compelling musical drama resonates love, longing and liberation.
