Six-time Tony Award-winning costume designer CATHERINE ZUBER and legendary scenic designer TONY STRAIGES are among the 2017 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients which were just announced by Theatre Development Fund (TDF), a not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts.

Berkeley Rep today announced that single tickets for the world premiere of the new musical Monsoon Wedding will go on sale to the general public on Monday, November 14. Monsoon Wedding will have its world premiere at Berkeley Rep's Roda Theatre next spring. Previews begin Friday, May 5, 2017 and the show runs through Sunday, June 25, 2017. Press night for Monsoon Weddingwill be Friday, May 19, 2017.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is pleased to announce that Academy Award–winning actor Robert De Niro will be honored at the 44th Chaplin Award Gala on Monday, May 8, 2017.

Back in February, BroadwayWorld reported that stage and screen star Kevin Kline would star in The Acting Company's reading presentation of Noel Coward's charming comedy PRESENT LAUGHTER. Now he's taking the show to Broadway, according to the New York Times.

Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through Theatre Development Fund's Costume Collection.

Honorary Chair for the event is Tony Award winning actress, singer and dancer Donna McKechnie.  The master of ceremonies for the evening is noted theatre journalist Peter Filichia.

Critically praised as "nothing short of sublime" (Chicago-Sun Times), and "Zimmerman remains a superior storyteller " (Chicago Tribune), Treasure Island, a co-production with Chicago's Lookingglass Theatre Company, is a glorious adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's most beloved novel. Previews begin Friday, April 22, and the show runs through Sunday, June 5, 2016. Press night for Treasure Island will be held on Friday, April 29. Full casting has been announced for Promethean Theatre Ensemble's production of James Goldman's The Lion in Winter, according to Brian Pastor, director of this production and artistic director of the company. Leading the cast as King Henry II of England and his wife Eleanor of Acquitaine, the roles immortalized by Peter O'Toole and Katharine Hepburn in the 1968 film version, will be Brian Parry and Elaine Carlson. Parry, a Jeff award winner for supporting actor in Redtwist's Shining City, is a four-time Jeff Award nominee and recently earned raves for his portrayal of George in Redtwist's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf along with his roles in Redtwist's Red and the currently playing The Drawer Boy. Parry has previously appeared with Promethean in The Lark. Carlson was a Jeff winner for Famous Door's Salt of the Earth and was seen recently in Eclipse's A Perfect Ganesh. She has performed previously with Promethean in Tiger at the Gates and A Study in Scarlet.

BroadwayWorld has learned that Leslie Uggams -- the Tony and Emmy Award-winning actress who has been opening doors for African-American actors for five decades --- will perform the title role in the NY debut of Colman Domingo's newest play, DOT, at Vineyard Theatre (108 E. 15 St.) beginning February 4, 2016 and opening February 23.
