The new musical King Kong opens on Broadway tonight at the Broadway Theatre! 

ZACH Theatre announces an exciting new season add-on and schedule change for the 2018-19 Season. Back by popular vote, Texas' brassy blue Governor Ann Richards will return to the stage next summer with the hit play, ANN running on The Topfer July 31-September 8, 2019 under the direction of original Broadway Director Benjamin Endsley Klein. With the summer stage appearance of the saucy Ann Richards, that loveable East Berlin gender bending rocker Hedwig will now kick off the new year moving Hedwig and the Angry Inch to January, running January 23-March 3, 2019 in The Topfer under the direction of Kevin Cahoon.

Kokandy Productions is pleased to present the final production of its fifth anniversary season: the Tony Award-nominated musical GRAND HOTEL, playing April 15 - May 27, 2018 at Theater Wit, 1229 W. Belmont Ave. in Chicago. Featuring a book by Luther Davis, music and lyrics by Robert Wright and George Forrest and additional music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, the Kokandy production will be directed by Artistic Producer John D. Glover, with music direction by Aaron Benham and choreography by Brenda Didier.

A regional premiere, Side Show, by Bill Russell with music by Henry Krieger, is based on the true story of conjoined twins Violet and Daisy Hilton, who became stars during the Depression. It is a moving portrait of two women literally joined at the hip, whose extraordinary bondage brings them fame but denies them love. The show follows their progression from England to America, around the vaudeville circuit and ultimately to Hollywood on the eve of their appearance in the 1932 movie Freaks. With a completely reworked plot and new songs, the 2014 revival version delves deeper into the backstory of the Hilton twins. As the twins' forge a relationship with Harry Houdini and face potential separation surgery, the book and lyrics by Bill Russell fleshes out characters and situations that endow Henry Krieger's music with more sophistication and truth. Side Show shines a spotlight on marginalized members of society, taking center stage in their own lives and dealing with mainstream emotions of love, success, suffering - and finally - acceptance. Eli and Edythe Broad General Director Pl cido Domingo has announced the repertory and artist roster for the company's 2018/19 season, planned by Mr. Domingo in collaboration with Richard Seaver Music Director James Conlon and Sebastian Paul and Marybelle Musco President and CEO Christopher Koelsch. The season will include six mainstage productions presented at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, with additional performances presented elsewhere through the company's Off Grand initiative.

Central City Opera's 2018 Summer Festival, which runs from July 7 to August 5, 2018, features Mozart'sThe Magic Flute and Verdi's Il trovatore in repertory. Central City Opera's 2017 Summer Festival, which runs from July 8 through August 6, features Bizet's Carmen and Mozart's Così fan tutte performed in repertory in the historic Central City Opera House, and three one-act operas with limited runs—Britten's The Burning Fiery Furnace, Douglas Moore's Gallantry, and Amy Beach's Cabildo—performed in smaller venues located around the town of Central City. Complementing these five widely different operas are pre-performance lectures and talkbacks, staged opera scenes, elegant opening night dinners, and post-performance socials, which make for a full and enriching experience of entertainment and culture in one of Colorado's most historic mountain settings.

The theatre community and others have taken to social media to express outrage at an announcement made earlier today that the Radio City Rockettes are scheduled to perform at the inauguration of President-elect, Donald Trump.
