Tickets to WAM Theatre's Fall Show Now On Sale

Tickets are now on sale for WAM Theatre's fall MainStage production of Holy Laughter, scheduled for for October 29-November 22 at the St. Germain Stage in the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center in Pittsfield. This poignant comedy follows Abigail, an Episcopal priest who finds that the reality of leading a church is radically and hilariously different than what she learned in seminary. Hymns, liturgical dance and a wicked tongue lift playwright Catherine Trieschmann's antic portrait of a small, struggling congregation to comic heights. This will be the first workshop production of this new play, which is still in development. (more...)

Django Bates to Compose St. James Theatre's AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS

Keyboardist, alto horn player, composer, and founding member of Loose Tubes Django Bates will compose the score for a new stage production of Jules Verne's classic 1873 novel, Around the World in 80 Days, running at the St. James Theatre from 26 November 2015 - 17 January 2016 with a press night on 3 December 2015. In an adaptation by playwright Laura Eason, a writer on hit Netflix series House of Cards, the production will be directed by Lucy Bailey and produced by Simon Friend Entertainment, St. James Theatre Productions and Ros Povey Productions. Robert Portal to Lead AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS at St. James Theatre

Casting is announced today for Around the World in 80 Days, which will run at the St. James Theatre from 26 November 2015 to 17 January 2016, with press night on 3 December 2015. Leading the cast in the role of Phileas Fogg will be Robert Portal, who, in challenges reminiscent of Fogg's own quest, has rowed 3000 miles across the Atlantic in The Talisker Whisky Challenge and partaken in the Marathon des Sables, running over 150 miles of the Sahara Desert in six days, raising money for charity in both instances.  Previews for WAM Theatre's mainstage production of Holy Laughter by Catherine Trieshmann start on Thursday, October 29 and run through Saturday, October 31 at 7:30 pm at the Sydelle and Lee Blatt Performing Arts Center at 36 Linden Street in Pittsfield. Tickets for preview performances are just $18. This developmental workshop production officially opens at the 2 pm performance on Sunday, November 1, and continues performances Fridays at 7:30 pm, Saturdays at 2 & 7:30 pm, and Sundays at 2 pm through November 22. (PT) Adapted from Charles Dickens' original by Arlitia Jones and Michael Evan Haney, A Christmas Carol is the most produced play in the country and concerns one Ebenezer Scrooge. He is a greedy and stingy businessman, with no place in his life for kindness, compassion, charity or benevolence. When Scrooge is visited by four ghosts, including his former business partner, Jacob Marley, he is warned to change his ways or face a miserable afterlife. Share Scrooge's miraculous transformation with the whole family and experience the remembrance of the true meaning of Christmas.
