Marin Theatre Company, in association with Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, announces the casting of its spring production of August Wilson's Fences, directed by Derrick Sanders. Fences, which won the 1987 Pulitzer Prize and 1987 and 2010 Tony Awards, will feature veteran film and television actor Carl Lumbly as Troy Maxson, Steven Anthony Jones, the artistic director of Lorraine Hansberry Theatre, as Jim Bono and award-winning actor, playwright and director Margo Hall as Rose, as well as Oregon Shakespeare Festival's Eddy Ray Jackson as Cory, Adrian Roberts as Gabriel and Tyee Tilghman as Lyons. MTC's production of Fences will run from April 10 through May 4.

The Paul Taylor Dance Foundation (PTDF) is pleased to announce the acquisition of three new staff members. Raegan Wood has been named Director of The Taylor School, Daniel Vincent has been named Director of Development, and Tim Robinson has been named Director of Tour Engagements.

Good Company Theatre has announced its production of Fences by renowned dramatist August Wilson. At the center of the story is headstrong patriarch Troy Maxon, a former Negro Leagues baseball player whose career was halted by racial prejudice. With wary and dutiful pride he supports his family as a garbage collector, struggling to reconcile his lived experiences with the escalating social change of 1950s America.

The Record Company will open for legendary blues guitarist B.B. King at his Segerstrom Center debut on Sunday, December 8 at 7 p.m. in Segerstrom Hall. The band is a rock/blues/roots trio based in Los Angeles and consists of Chris Vos (guitar, lead vocals, harmonica), Alex Stiff (bass, guitar, vocals), and Marc Cazorla (drums, pianos, vocals). Steeped in the classic sounds of Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker along with the raw rock 'n' roll of The Stooges and The Yardbirds, The Record Company has burst onto the scene in a very short time.

Philadelphia Theatre Company kicks off its 2013-2014 season with the OBIE Award-winning 4,000 Miles by Amy Herzog on October 11-November 10 at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre (Broad and Lombard Streets). Directed by Mary B. Robinson, the ensemble cast features Beth Dixon, Leigha Kato, Davy Raphaely, and Shannon Sullivan.

The Texas Repertory Theatre Company is opening its ninth season with Larry Shue's THE NERD, a comedic play in two acts. The simplistic comedy had its world premiere at the Milwaukee Repertory Theater in April 1981, and it starred Larry Shue in the role of Willum Cubbert. Glowing press and strong word of mouth eventually enabled the play to open on Broadway, where it played 441 performances from March 22, 1987 to April 10, 1988. Plot wise, there really is not much here. The play centers on the fact that Willum Cubbert was saved by a man named Rick Stedman when they were both in Vietnam. However, Willum was unconscious when his life was saved, so he and Rick have never met. Through ongoing correspondence the ever-grateful Willum has promised to welcome Rick with open arms should he ever come to Terre Haute, Indiana. Out of the blue, Rick turns up at Willum's home and proves himself to be the houseguest from hell.

Joy Carlin (Body Awareness, Jack Goes Boating,Awake and Sing!) directs this drama about what we do with history and how we appropriate it for our own personal needs. Featuring Adrian Anchondo, Jessica Bates, Peter Kybart, Sarah Mitchell, Ellen Ratner, Rolf Saxon, Victor Talmadge, and Pamela Gaye Walker, AFTER THE REVOLUTION plays tonight, August 30 through September 29 at the Aurora Theatre in Berkeley.

Beginning Thursday, August 15th, the Harbor Stage Company will present the final production of their second season, Sam Shepard's modern classic Fool for Love. The tempestuous drama will be directed by acclaimed theater artist Jeff Zinn and feature performances by Artistic Director Robert Kropf, co-founders Stacy Fischer and Jonathan Fielding, and Outer Cape actor Tom Brogan in his Harbor Stage debut.

To kick off its third production of the season, 'Loot' by Joe Orton, Westport Country Playhouse will host a free film screening of 'Prick Up Your Ears,' the 1987 film adaptation of Orton's biography, starring Gary Oldman, Alfred Molina, and Vanessa Redgrave, and directed by Stephen Frears, today, July 14, 4 p.m., in The Playhouse's Sheffer Studio.

From today, July 11 to 13 at New York Live Arts, Modern American Dance Company (MADCO) from St. Louis, MO will perform 'MADCO performs MILLS/works,' an evening of dances choreographed by former company member Joseph Mills. Mills performed with MADCO from 1981-1987. Subsequently, he was a member of MOMIX and The ERick Hawkins Dance Company and has performed and choreographed independently since 1990. Since 2000, he has frequently returned to St. Louis to create works for MADCO. In this program, MADCO will offer three of his works, one being a world premiere, and an audience favorite danced by Mr. Mills that was choreographed by Alan Boeding.

Houston Ballet Artistic Director Stanton Welch has announced the company's 2013-2014 season. Eight new works enter Houston Ballet's repertoire, including world premieres by James Kudelka, Garrett Smith and Melissa Hough in September 2013; the North American premiere of David Bintley's Aladdin in February 2014; company premieres of Jiri Kylian's Sechs Tanze, Christopher Bruce's Intimate Pages and Stanton Welch's Of Blessed Memory as well as a world premiere A Young Person's Guide to Orchestra by Mr. Welch in March 2014.

La Jolla Playhouse is proud to announce its 2013/2014 resident theatre company: Teatro Mascara Magica.
