The winner of five 2011 Tony Awards including Best Play, WAR HORSE will embark on a national tour in June 2012, bringing the hit play to 30 U.S. cities during the 2012-2013 season. WAR HORSE has been seen by almost 2 million people worldwide and is currently playing at New York's Lincoln Center Theater, in London's West End, and at Toronto�s Princess of Wales Theatre. Future productions of WAR HORSE are planned for Australia, Berlin and South Africa, as well as a UK Tour.

The tour of WAR HORSE, based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford, will be directed by Bijan Sheibani based on the original Tony� Award-winning direction by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, and presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company. At the heart of the show are life-sized puppets which bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.

Michael Morpurgo�s novel, War Horse, is also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg�s feature film of the same name, which was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture.

WAR HORSE Begins Performances 6/14 in LA

The National Theatre production of "War Horse" begins performances Thursday, June 14 at 8 p.m. at the Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre. Performances for the powerful drama will continue through July 29, 2012. Opening is set for June 29.

The 33rd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards were announced yesterday, with Acting Up Stage, Nightwood Thetare and Theatre Passe Muraille emerging as the leaders of the pack with the most number of nominations in their respective divisions. Imagination Stage, in a groundbreaking collaboration with The Washington Ballet, presents its world premiere summer production, The Lion, The Witch, & The Wardrobe. In this fusion of theater, dance, and puppetry, based on the novel by C.S. Lewis, the roles of the four children are played jointly by an actor and a dancer, and the courageous lion Aslan is portrayed by a life-size puppet operated by three actor/puppeteers, similar to the puppets used in the Broadway production War Horse. At a press conference held June 5 at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre, the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) announced 169 nominations for 212 eligible productions that opened between June 1, 2011 and May 22, 2012 for the 33rd annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards which honour excellence in the performing arts in Toronto.

Tickets go on sale today, Friday 18 May, for award-winning children's author Michael Morpurgo's Private Peaceful which plays for a strictly limited 16 performances only at the Theatre Royal Haymarket from 18 - 29 September 2012. Directed and adapted for the stage by Simon Reade, Private Peaceful has designs by Bill Talbot and sound by Jason Barnes. Casting will be announced shortly. The National Theatre's One Man, Two Guvnors will continue its run at the Haymarket from 1 October after this two-week break.
