Last year around this time, Elevator Repair Service had Gotham playgoers abuzz with their cover-to-cover, word-for-word staging of F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby, re-titled Gatz. Director John Collins' off-beat adaptation, which had Computer Age office workers assuming the roles of Fitzgerald's Jazz Agers, intrigued many, but also terrified quite a few with its six hour and twenty minute length. (Intermissions and a dinner break stretched the production to over eight hours.)

Broadway Grand Rapids today announced that all shows on the 2011-12 season will be on sale to the public on Sunday, September 18th at 9am. Shows going on sale include Irving Berlin's White Christmas, Million Dollar Quartet, RAIN: A Tribute to the Beatles, Mary Poppins, The Addams Family and CATS. NYC & Company, New York City's official marketing, tourism and partnership organization, today announced two-for-one tickets in the fall during Broadway Week. Tickets go on sale September 5 for Broadway performances from September 18 to 30. Broadway Week was created to boost ticket sales during traditionally slow periods such as the end of summer and provide unprecedented theater savings for New Yorkers and visitors alike.

Highlights for the upcoming season include readings by playwrights Delaney Britt Brewer (Youngblood Playwrights) and Jacqueline Goldfinger (current semi-finalist F.Otto Haas award for Emerging Philadelphia Theatre Artist, nominee 2010 L. Arnold Weissberger Award). Other highlights include The Festival of Dionysia:Ten Minute Play Festival, and a site specific production of The Minervae by Steven Bost for the Queens community. On the Square Productions is currently nominated for a New York Innovative Theatre Award for Best Short Script for their 2010 production at The Flea Theater of Monroe, Illinois: Over Here/Townie by Aaron Wigdor Levy (Public Theatre Emerging Writers Group).

The Time Out New York Lounge will present Karaoke Idol 2011 - Finale!, featuring guest judges Michael Buchanan (Addams Family, Cry Baby, Play It Cool), Carrie Cimma (Lizzie Borden) and showbiz spitfire Paige Turner, at New World Stages' Time Out New York Lounge tonight, Wednesday August 24th (10:30 PM).

Cast members from Memphis performed at Harlem Day yesterday, August 21. The Broadway Experience returned for a fourth summer at The Manhattan Movement & Arts Center from July 25th - August 7th. With over 60 classes, workshops, lectures, and a performance based second week, TBE had some very special guest speakers this year, Chita Rivera and Bebe Neuwirth. Both spoke about their lives, careers, experience, and took the time to answer questions and offer advise and inspiration.

Stage and screen star Brooke Shields will extend her run as Morticia in the hit musical THE ADDAMS FAMILY for an additional two months through Saturday, December 31 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre (205 West 46th Street). Shields had originally planned to end her limited engagement on Sunday, October 30. 'I am having the time of my life playing Morticia with this wonderful company of actors. Morticia is such a delicious role and THE ADDAMS FAMILY is such a fantastic and iconic piece of entertainment that I just couldn't resist the invitation to extend,' said Shields.

PNC Broadway Across America - Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh CLO announce the presentation of the hit Broadway musical, THE ADDAMS FAMILY, based on the bizarre and beloved family of characters created by legendary cartoonist Charles Addams.

When Barry Connors' frothy family comedy, The Patsy, enjoyed its seven-month at the Booth during Broadway's 1925-26 season, it was a three-act play utilizing one living room set and seven actors.  Transport Group's new production, directed by Jack Cummings III, reduces the piece to an intermissionless 75 minutes, minimizes the set to a sparsely furnished room and casts each role with five time OBIE Award winning actor/playwright David Greenspan.
