Pride Films and Plays is delighted to announce the two winners of 2011 Women's Work Contest. The Sapphics on Stage winner was Patient HM by Vanda from New York, and the Sapphics On Screen winner for Best New Screenplay was Girls Out Loud by Pat Branch from Los Angeles. The announcement was made at the Hoover-Leppen Theater at Center on Halsted at the completion of the Women's Work Weekend.

Menken: LEAP OF FAITH to Receive 29 Hour Reading Prior to NY Production

As BroadwayWorld has previously reported, a newly revamped version of Leap of Faith received a table reading last Friday, September 9. The show's composer, Alan Menken, has taken to his Twitter this morning to announce that the show will next have a 29 hour reading prior to a New York production. He tweets: 'LEAP OF FAITH table reading last Friday. Next is a 29 hour reading before New York production. It's SUCH a changed show!' The musical reportedly has Broadway aspirations, possibly for later this season.

Theatre of NOTE continues the celebration of its 30th anniversary with an homage to its roots of producing orginal one act plays: Pity of Things, an evening of 5 one act plays written by, Jason Grote (Kawaisoo), Phinneas Kiyomura (The Little Darling), Bill Robens (Breaking), Tommy Smith (PTSD) and Delondra Williams (Desert Aria). The plays will be directed by Sabrina Lloyd (Kawaisoo), Phinneas Kiyomura (The Little Darling), Jaime Robledo, Sabina Ptasznik, Christopher William Johnson (Desert Aria). Pity of Things will preview on Thursday, July 14 at 8pm and will open on Friday, July 15th at 8pm and run through Saturday, August 7th at Theatre of NOTE, 1517 N. Cahuenga Blvd. (just North of Sunset) in Hollywood.
