On Friday, July 20th the board of the Provincetown Theater Foundation and their new artistic director, Obie Award winner David Drake, will present the first annual Provincetown American Playwright Award to Terrence McNally, the four-time Tony Award-winning playwright of such iconic plays and musicals as Master Class, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, Lips Together, Teeth Apart, The Full Monty, Ragtime, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and this summer's Cape Cod premiere of his masterpiece Love! Valour! Compassion! at the Provincetown Theater.

Opening July 16th, the Provincetown Theater is proud to announce the Cape Cod premiere of Terrence McNally's beloved Broadway comedy Love! Valour! Compassion! for a summer-long run at the company's playhouse at 238 Bradford Street, Provincetown, MA 02657. "Frankly, I was stunned when I discovered McNally's masterpiece had never been produced on Cape Cod," says artistic director David Drake. "Long overdue, I'm thrilled and honored to breathe life into this vibrant American classic for our audiences this season."

Lantern Theater Company announces its upcoming 2018/19 mainstage season, which will include an ambitious and eclectic mix of classical, contemporary, and new work for the stage. The five plays that comprise the company's 2018/19 season include the Philadelphia premiere of Hapgood, Tom Stoppard's fascinating and fast-paced tale of Russian spies and nuclear physics at the height of the Cold War; the Philadelphia premiere of David Ives' poetic farce, The Heir Apparent; Betrayal by Harold Pinter, a sophisticated drama about love, sex, marriage, and friendship; William Shakespeare's dark comedy Measure for Measure; and Minors, a world premiere musical by Philadelphia artists Kittson O'Neill and Tony Award-winner Robert Kaplowitz. This new Lantern-commissioned work represents the company's first foray into musical theater and is inspired by the notorious "kids for cash" scandal in which corrupt judges sentenced youths to for-profit juvenile detention centers in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.

Steve Martin's PICASSO AT THE LAPIN AGILE Opens in San Jose This November

San Jose State University's Department of Film and Theatre presents Picasso at the Lapin Agile, written by Steve Martin. In this award-winning absurdist comedy, a fiery young Albert Einstein happens upon an equally youthful Pablo Picasso in a Parisian bar in 1904, when both are on the cusp of their first successes. They lock wits in a hilarious battle of ideas about painting, probability, lust, and the future of the world. This production will be directed by SJSU Theatre Arts Lecturer Kirsten Brandt with evening performances November 3, 4, 8, 9, 10, and 11 at 7pm and one matinee performance November 9 at 11am. Performances take place at the Hammer Theatre Center, 101 Paseo De San Antonio, San Jose.
