Houston Ballet presents its eleventh annual Jubilee of Dance, a special one-night only performance on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 7:00 pm. This year's program will feature the great American ballerina Julie Kent, a principal dancer with New York's American Ballet Theatre, who will make a special guest appearance. Ms. Kent will perform the leading female role in Stanton Welch's Clear (2001), a role she created at the work's premiere in 2001 in New York. Houston Ballet will also pay tribute to beloved first soloist Kelly Myernick, who is retiring after 14 years with the company. The Jubilee of Dance will close the evening with an excerpt of Stanton Welch's high-speed Velocity (2003), a ballet that pays homage to classical conventions in a contemporary manner. The Jubilee of Dance will be held at Wortham Theater Center in downtown Houston. Tickets may be purchased by calling 713 227 2787 or by visiting www.houstonballet.org. (more...)

Renowned Stratford Festival artist Scott Wentworth will perform 'double duty,' directing the production and playing the staunch bachelor Benedick, opposite his real-life wife Marion Adler as the feisty Beatrice. A theatrical event for the whole family, Quintessence's special brand of imagination theatre will take you on a whirlwind adventure with Alice and allow you to escape the holiday madness in Wonderland. Bringing together the best professional actors and designers from Philadelphia and across the country, Artistic Director Alexander Burns leads this collective of artists on a mission to ignite the classics through visceral, actor-focused and text-driven productions. Adapted for stage by Christopher Sergel, based on Harper Lee's Pulitzer Prize winning novel, this enchanting production of To Kill A Mockingbird comes to the Theatre Royal from Tuesday 3 February for one week only. Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced that following strong reviews Pitbulls, written by Keith Josef Adkins and directed by Leah Gardiner, will extend one week through Saturday, December 20, at Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, 224 Waverly Place, west of Seventh Avenue South.
