Signature Theatre Company (Founding Artistic Director James Houghton; Executive Director Erika Mallin), announced today seven productions for its inaugural 2012 season at Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street near 10th Avenue), the company's new Frank Gehry-designed permanent home opening in February 2012. Signature Center will allow the Company to expand its programming, introduce new initiatives, and build audiences. Featuring three intimate theatres, a studio theatre, rehearsal studio and a shared lobby with café and bookstore, Signature Center will be both a theatre community hub and a neighborhood destination.

Since their inception in 1996 the Paper Mill Playhouse (Mark S. Hoebee- Producing Artistic Director, Todd Schmidt-Managing Director) Rising Star Awards for Excellence in High School Musical Theatre have ignited the careers of many notable performers, all of whom attended high school in New Jersey. Among the early nominees and winners are Academy Award® nominee Anne Hathaway, Tony® award winner Laura Benanti, and 2011 Tony® nominee, Nikki M. James. Paper Mill Playhouse hosted the 16th Annual Rising Star Awards- Presented by the Investors Savings Bank Foundation on Tuesday, June 7th at the Millburn Theater. Schools nominated for Outstanding Overall Musical and Leading Actor/Actress nominees performed at the event and award recipients were presented with a crystal award from Paper Mill Playhouse Rising Star Awards partner, Tiffany & Co. Westfield High School came out on top, winning nine Rising Star Awards (including Outstanding Overall Production of a Musical) and two scholarships.

The Charlestown Working Theater Presents the Final Production of Its International Contemporary Performance Series: The Natasha Plays by Russian Playwright Yaroslava Pulinovich. Directed by Stephen Nunns, Translated by John Freedman. Presented with Towson University's School of Theatre Arts. Charlestown, MA: The Charlestown Working Theater presents The Natasha Plays, a triptych of monologues by one of Russia's freshest new theatrical voices, 23-year-old Yaroslava Pulinovich. Natasha's Dream, tells the story of a 16-year-old orphan, Natasha Banina (Julia M. Smith), who finds herself experiencing the first rustlings of love-with dire consequences. The second monologue, I Won, chronicles the upward mobility of another teenager, Natasha Vernikova (Sarah Lloyd), who is a middle-class overachiever who lets nothing get in the way of her personal and professional success. Finally, there is Epilogue, a short piece in which yet another Natasha (Shannon McPhee) offers up a love letter to her favorite pop star, Dima Bilan.

Brodsky Elected Chairman of Metropolitan Museum Board of Trustees

The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced today the election of business and civic leader Daniel Brodsky, a Trustee of the institution since 2001, as its next Chairman of the Board. Mr. Brodsky will officially assume the chairmanship on September 13, when James R. Houghton retires from the post after 13 years to become a Trustee Emeritus.
