Wit, a one-act play written by Margaret Edson, is a powerful and poignant exploration of mortality and the human spirit in the face of terminal illness. NEVILLE'S ISLAND is a fish out of water story about four guys trying to bond and survive on a corporate team building excursion gone awry. Strong performances from Jim Loutzenhiser, Alexander Platt, Brooks Reeves, and Brandon Whitehead can't rescue them from playwright Tim Firth's overlong comedy trying to be a psychological thriller.
The Old Globe today announced the complete cast and creative team for George Bernard Shaw's Arms and the Man, joining celebrated director Jessica Stone, who recently made her Globe debut with Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. Shaw's romantic comedy, which continues the Globe's 80th Anniversary festivities as part of the Balboa Park Centennial Celebration, will run May 9 - June 14, 2015 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. Stoneham Theatre has announced its production of the critically-acclaimed dark comedy Neville's Island, by the multi-award-winning writer of Calendar Girls, Tim Firth. Performances run from April 9-26, 2015. Neville's Island premiered in 1992 at the Stephen Joseph Theatre in North Yorkshire, UK. In 1995, it was nominated for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Comedy and won Best Play MEN Awards in 2006. It received its North American Premiere in New Mexico at Santa Fe Stages in 1996. Neville's Island was adapted for television in 1998, airing as a TV movie on the UK's ITV. Directed by Stoneham Theatre's Producing Artistic Director Weylin Symes, Neville's Island features an impressive island set, complete with water and a climbable tree, by Scenic Designer Chris Ostrom.

Lindsay Lohan will soon star in David Mamet's SPEED-THE-PLOW at London's Playhouse Theatre from 24th September for a strictly limited run. A high-octane modern classic, SPEED-THE-PLOW is a brilliantly satirical portrayal of Hollywood filled with Mamet's trademark wit and mesmerizing dialogue. Lohan recently revealed that she might have some nervous jitters to get over before taking the stage. She told the Daily Mail: 'I think it's just the idea of when it starts, on opening night, that's what makes me the most nervous. I'll probably mess up on the first night just out of fear.'
From September 4-14, 2014, Houston Ballet launches its 45th season with the company premiere of John Neumeier's three-act ballet A Midsummer Night's Dream. The ballet is based on Shakespeare's lighthearted play of the same name and follows the hijinks and hilarity that ensues when a well-intentioned plan with a love potion goes awry. Created in 1977, A Midsummer Night's Dream has served as Mr. Neumeier's calling card, being seen as one of his most joyous and popular creations. Houston Ballet is the first American ballet company to perform the famous work and it is the first piece by Mr. Neumeier to enter the Houston Ballet repertoire.
Early in the first act of the Tom Snow - Dean Pitchford 1998 musical Footloose, Ren declares his passion for dancing - 'I can't sit still' - and, indeed, by the end of the evening at the Pickard Theatre, the audience for Maine State Music Theatre echoes his mantra. They are cheering, swaying, and shouting to the music, and embracing the exuberant, touching message of this show. Directed and choreographed brilliantly by Patti Colombo (assisted by Karl Warden) and performed by a dynamic cast, this fourth and final production of MSMT's 2014 season dazzles and delights.
