American Blues Theater Names 2016 Blue Ink Playwriting Award Winner

American Blues Theater, Chicago's second oldest Equity Ensemble, under the continued leadership of Producing Artistic Director Gwendolyn Whiteside, has named Nathan Alan Davis the winner of the 2016 National Blue Ink Playwriting Award. Davis' play, The Wind and the Breeze, was selected from a pool 449 submissions. As part of the award, Davis receives a $1000 cash prize and the opportunity to further develop his script with American Blues Theater. Lisa Portes will direct a staged reading of The Wind and the Breeze on April 10, 2016 at 2:00pm at the Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N Lincoln Ave. (more...)

OpenAire to Build Massive Skylights for Phase II of Kalahari Resorts' Record Breaking Pocono Mountains Waterpark

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO - Kalahari Resorts and Conventions has again chosen to work with OpenAire after the overwhelming success of Phase I of its new waterpark and convention center in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains, which drew thousands of guests upon opening last year. Kalahari has now begun construction on Phase II, adding another 100,000 square feet to the waterpark's original 100,000 square feet, which opened in 2015. With a total of 200,000 square feet under one roof, the resort will claim the prize for the largest indoor waterpark in the United States, overtaking its sister waterpark and current record holder, Kalahari - Sandusky, Ohio, which covers 173,000 square feet. In addition to the waterpark expansion, Phase II will add many more hotel rooms to the resort, bringing the total accommodations to 1,000 guest suites, a 40,000 square-foot arcade, three full-service restaurants and much more. OpenAire worked closely with Architectural Design Consultants, Inc. (ADCI) and Kramer Brothers Construction to create a seamless blend of conventional structures and OpenAire's lightweight aluminum-framed enclosures and Skylights. (more...)

Producers Robert Fox, Matthew Byam Shaw for Playful Productions and Royal Court Theatre Productions have revealed that Matthew Dunster's production of Martin McDonagh's Hangmen has recouped in under six weeks. The news comes as the production is announced the winner of the Critic's Circle 'Best New Play' and 'Best Design' Awards today. Following a sell out run at the Royal Court Theatre, Matthew Dunster's production of Martin McDonagh'sHangmen transferred to the West End for a strictly limited season in December and must end on 5 March. Cast, Directors Announced for Gate Theatre's World Premiere of THE IPHIGENIA QUARTET

Artistic Director Christopher Haydon today announces full casting for the world premiere of The Iphigenia Quartet which includes Agamemnon, written by Caroline Bird and directed by Christopher Haydon; Chorus, written by Chris Thorpe and directed by Elayce Ismail; Iphigenia by Suhayla El-Bushra and directed by Rebecca Hill and Clytemnestra by Lulu Raczka and directed by Jennifer Tang. In Agamemnon, Andrew French plays Agamemnon, Nigel Barratt plays Menelaus, Sharon Duncan-Brewster plays Clytemnestra and Louise McMenemy plays Messenger. The cast of Agamemnon will all play Voice in Chorus. In Iphigenia and Clytemnestra, Shannon Tarbet plays Iphigenia and Maid, Susie Trayling plays Clytemnestra and Professor, Dwane Walcott plays Achilles and Soldier and Anthony Barclay plays Agamemnon and Director.
