Due to popular pre-sale demand, a year in advance, Aurora Theatre Company announces that it will extend Lanford Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning TALLEY'S FOLLY, the second fully staged production to be performed in the company's second stage performance space, Harry's UpStage. The company will add a sixth show to the existing performance weeks and will extend the original run dates an additional two weeks. Aurora Theatre Company pays homage to Lanford Wilson with "The Talley Trilogy." Acclaimed Bay Area actress and director Joy Carlin (After the Revolution, Body Awareness, Jack Goes Boating, Awake and Sing!) directs the first entry in this series of three interrelated plays.

Perhaps the most controversial opera of the 20th century makes its Southern California debut when Long Beach Opera (LBO) stages John Adams' The Death of Klinghoffer on March 16 and March 22 at the Terrace Theater in downtown Long Beach. This powerful and unsettling work chronicles the 1985 hijacking of the Mediterranean cruise ship Achille Lauro by Palestinian terrorists and the murder of disabled Jewish-American passenger, Leon Klinghoffer. LBO's production is a partner presentation of the Los Angeles Philharmonic's 'Minimalist Jukebox' Festival.

Imagination Stage, in Bethesda, Maryland, renamed its building in honor of Jim and Carol Trawick, the benefactors who donated the largest single amount in the history of the organization, Carol Trawick and her late husband, Jim. The Trawicks donated $2.5-million over ten years to retire the building's mortgage.

Pianist Kirill Gerstein returns to New York for performances of orchestral and solo piano works spanning both the classical and jazz genres. Following on the heels of sellout shows in Australia, the U.K., and Europe, Roger Hodgson, co-founder of Supertramp will return to the U.S. with his Breakfast in America Tour. A series of select dates start August 11 at the Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa, California, and will include at least eight other stops on both coasts.
Actor Khalil Kain, who is known for edgy character roles on film and for the TV series 'Girlfriends,' will make his stage directing debut with Sam Shepard's 'Buried Child,' to be presented by Aaron Davis Hall as an Equity LORT/LOA production from tonight, July 11 to August 3. The production uses a multi-racial cast to reinterpret the underlying symbols of Shepard's landmark play, in which the misfortunes of a Midwestern farming family reveal both the demise and endurance of the American Dream.
