It's no surprise that FOX's powerhouse new hit GLEE's soundtracks are popular, and Columbia Records have confirmed just how popular they are: both soundtracks (Glee: The Music, Volume 1, and Volume 2) released last fall have been certified Gold by RIAA for sales in excess of 500,000 units. Volume 1 entered the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart at #4 in its debut week, and Volume 2 debuted at #3. Both volumes continue to be in the top 20 best selling albums this week. For those who want a sneak peak, eonline revealed some things to come from the next installment of the show, as the cast has begin filming new episodes.
FOX has announced it's winter line-up, which features the usual favorites, in addition to some new additions. American Idol will begin its ninth season on the network on January 12. The fan favorite will air in its usual slot, Tuesdays at 8:00pm. Also announced is that GLEE will button for the season on December 9, and move from its Wednesday, 9pm slot to Tuesday nights beginning April 13, 2010, opposite ABC's Lost. it will be a long wait for the Gleeks.
Billboard is reporting this morning that while plans are already underway for the GLEE cast to do a concert tour of the country in the summer of 2010, that also part of Columbia Records deal with FOX is that the label has options to sign the cast members to solo deals, though they aren't immediately rushing to do this.
