Sundance Film Festival Announces Juries, Awards Night Host

Sundance Institute will gather 20 celebrated and revered expert voices across film, art, culture and science to award feature-length and short films shown at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival with 12 prizes, announced at a ceremony February 2 that will be livestreamed at sundance.org and on YouTube. Short Film Awards will be announced at a separate ceremony on January 29 and will also be livestreamed. The Festival takes place January 24 through February 3 in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah.

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the full cast and creative team for Paradise Square: An American Musical. The world premiere is helmed by acclaimed director Moises Kaufman, with choreography by the legendary Bill T. Jones and a book by Marcus Gardley, Craig Lucas, and Larry Kirwan. Music by Jason Howland and Larry Kirwan, with lyrics by Nathan Tysen, and based on the songs of Stephen Foster. Paradise Square is produced by special arrangement with Garth H. Drabinsky in association with Peter LeDonne and Teatro Proscenium Limited Partnership.

Island Vibe Music Festival brings an experience of the Pacific Islands thru musical performances by Island-inspired performers, cultural dancers, lifestyle vendors, and Island foods. Returning on August 4, 2018 for its 5th year at SDCCU Stadium (formerly Qualcomm Stadium), this all ages event will include performances by Spawnbreezie, Eli Mac, Jordan T, The Jets, and Leilani Wolfgramm. The event will also feature unique cultural dances such as Hawaiian, Tahitian, Samoan, and more. Plus, a vendor village showcasing Islander-inspired merchandise, art and apparel. And of course we can't forget the mouth-watering foods from the Islands such as Spam Musubi, Kalua Pork, BBQ Chicken, Shaved Ice, and more.

Wynton Marsalis To Deliver The Commencement Address At Juilliard's 113th Commencement Ceremony

The Juilliard School today announced that alumnus Wynton Marsalis, trumpeter, director of Juilliard Jazz Studies, and artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, will address the graduates at the school's 113th commencement ceremony, which takes place Friday, May 18, 2018, at 11am in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Mr. Marsalis received an honorary doctor of music degree from Juilliard in 2006. This will be the final commencement for Juilliard President Joseph W. Polisi, who has had a long association with Mr. Marsalis and asked that he be the commencement speaker. In July, Damian Woetzel will begin as the school's seventh president.
