Rubicon's Summer Youth Theatre programs continue with the much anticipated Musical Theatre Camp production. Last Summer's production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat was honored with an Indy Award from the Santa Barbara Independent for Musical Direction by John Enrico Douglas. This Summer, Douglas joins the artistic team again for Once On This Island, a highly original and theatrical Caribbean fairy tale.

Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS) is excited to announce the cast for the high-stepping musical Yankee Doodle Dandy, running from July 17 - 22, 2012 at 8:15 p.m. each night. This production recounts the life of the first giant of American musical theatre, George M. Cohan, and marks TUTS' 45th summer of free musicals at Miller Outdoor Theatre (6000 Hermann Park Drive). A dynamic showbiz saga, Yankee Doodle Dandy offers an intimate portrayal of the trials and tribulations of "the man who owned Broadway."

The stars of the upcoming revival of JEKYLL & HYDE, Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages) and Grammy Award Nominee Deborah Cox (Aida), will host the 4th annual National High School Musical Theater Awards tonight, June 25th at 7:30pm at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre (200 W 45th St). The show will feature 60 of America's most talented young musical theater performers vying for the "Jimmy Award" for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor. Winners will be awarded college scholarships and other prizes will be announced live.

Albert Stanaj Receives Stepinac High School's Bob Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship

The Bob Fitzsimmons Memorial Scholarship, this year, is being awarded to Albert Stanaj, a 2012 graduate of Archbishop Stepinac High School. He has been demonstrating an interest in theatre since the age of 9. Albert would come to Stepinac with his parents to pick up his older brother who was in rehearsal for SOUTH PACIFIC. Besides running around the theatre chasing other cast members' little sisters, Albert became a student of the theatre at that time.

The Old Globe's 2012-13 Season will feature the World Premieres of two new musicals: Allegiance - A New American Musical by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione and A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder by Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak. The season also includes George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion in celebration of the classic play's 100th anniversary and the World Premiere of a new adaptation of Henrik Ibsen's A Doll's House by Anne-Charlotte Hanes Harvey and Kirsten Brandt. Two recent Broadway hits will make their San Diego debuts at the Globe: David Lindsay-Abaire's Good People and Jon Robin Baitz's Other Desert Cities. Rounding out the season are the West Coast Premiere of Bekah Brunstetter's Be a Good Little Widow and the Southern California Premiere of Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size.

BASE Entertainment (Co-CEO's Scott Zeiger and Brian Becker) announced that DINER, a new musical inspired by the critically acclaimed 1982 film, will come to Broadway in the fall of 2012. With a book by Academy Award and Emmy Award winner Barry Levinson and music & lyrics by Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow, DINER will be directed and choreographed by Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. DINER marks the Broadway debut of both Barry Levinson and Sheryl Crow. Prior to its Broadway bow, DINER will play a limited out of town engagement in a city TBD in the summer of 2012. Design team and casting will be announced at a later date.
